is it better than the Quran? ---

it is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, and each and every act of obedience to Allâh, etc.) that you turn your faces towards east and (or) west (in prayers); but Al-Birr is (the quality of) the one who believes in Allâh, the Last Day, the Angels, the Book, the Prophets and gives his wealth, in spite of love for it, to the kinsfolk, to the orphans, and to Al-Masâkin (the poor), and to the wayfarer, and to those who ask, and TO SET SLAVES FREE, performs As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and gives the Zakât, and who fulfill their covenant when they make it, and who are As-Sâbirin (the patient ones, etc.) in extreme poverty and ailment (disease) and at the time of fighting (during the battles). Such are the people of the truth and they are AlMuttaqûn (pious).

I saw Abu Dhar Al-Ghifari wearing a cloak, and his slave, too, was wearing a cloak. We asked him about that (i.e. how both were wearing similar cloaks). He replied, "Once I abused a man and he complained of me to the Prophet. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked me, 'Did you abuse him by slighting his mother?' He added, 'Your slaves are your brethren upon whom Allah has given you authority. So, if one has one's brethren under one's control, one should feed them with the like of what one eats and clothe them with the like of what one wears. You should not overburden them with what they cannot bear, and if you do so, help them (in their hard job).' "
Hadith - Sahih Al-Bukhari 3.721, Narrated Al Marur bin Suwaid

If he found a slave doing work which he was not capable of doing, he lightened it for him.

Exd 21:5 And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:

The scriptures teach that slavery is one of the greatest show of love and mercy that a human being can show to another needy human being. The ones benefiting from the ones who have, received rights the same as a family member.

If this one law of Yahweh was kept as written, there would be no homeless people, unemployment would cease, and there would be no need for orphanages because people would be taught true love and concern and see to it that no one is left uncared for.

Lev 25:35 ¶ And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: [yea, though he be] a stranger, or a sojourner; that he may live with thee.

All of Yahweh's laws teach true love, but they are rejected at this time and that is why we have suffering.

Tts 1:1 ¶ Shaul, a servant (slave) of Yahweh, and an apostle of Yahshua Messiah,

Peace.

Slavery
Old Testament:
The first, and most obvious, thing to remember is that there is no specific condemnation of slavery to be found anywhere in the Bible. At no point does God express even mild disapproval of enslaving human beings, robbing them of what freedom and independence they might have had.
On the contrary, God is depicted of both approving of and regulating slavery, ensuring that the traffic and ownership of fellow human being proceeds in an acceptable manner. In many cases, the regulations display a horrible disregard for the lives and dignity of enslaved individuals, hardly the sort of thing one would expect from a loving God.

Passage referencing and condoning slavery are common in the Old Testament.

When a slave owner strike a male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies immediately, the owner shall be punished. But if the slave survives a day or two, there is no punishment; for the slave is the owner's property. (Exod. 21:20-21)

Slavery is sanctioned by the Bible. The 10 commandments had it in - Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's maid servant. The Bible does not hold perfect morality. It is a collection of writings on both morality and immorality. In fact, servanthood is the essence of Christianity. Christians are asked to serve the Lord only. Hence, Christians are servants of the Lord. Therefore, servanthood is sanctioned by the Bible. Call it slavery or any other label, it is one and the same thing. What is wrong is to be a Master. And a cruel Master.

It says love all people and nothing really about slaves.
Although I doubt that it says you shouldn't have slaves, because no religion says that unless Buddhism or something. I know that subdivisions of Christianity believe in the Golden Rule. But slaves were essential in ancient societies. BTW, I thought that Muslims had a town mainly for selling slaves?

Hello,

All this discussion on slavery in the Bible, Koran and ancient worlds is a moot point anyway. Whether we in the 21st century like it or not, slavery was a big legal institution in those times and was economically feasible until the arrival of the industrial machines. Deal with it in the context of those times.

Cheers,

I thought you were asking about the bible
the old testiment gives guidlines on how to treat slves. being slavary was coman at that time I think it was just correcting some worse treatment
but as far as Jesus is concerened he did not mention slavery and made it clear we are all loved by God over all I would say the bible is against the ownership of other people.

If you buy a Hebrew slave, he is to serve for only six years. Set him free in the seventh year, and he will owe you nothing for his freedom. If he was single when he became your slave and then married afterward, only he will go free in the seventh year. But if he was married before he became a slave, then his wife will be freed with him. If his master gave him a wife while he was a slave, and they had sons or daughters, then the man will be free in the seventh year, but his wife and children will still belong to his master. But the slave may plainly declare, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children. I would rather not go free.' If he does this, his master must present him before God. Then his master must take him to the door and publicly pierce his ear with an awl. After that, the slave will belong to his master forever. (Exodus 21:2-6 NLT)

Slavery to righteousness leading to holiness is OK.

If you are a slave, you should honor your masters so God is not diminished.

# Romans 6:19
I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness.
Romans 6:18-20 (in Context) Romans 6 (Whole Chapter)

1 Timothy 6:1
All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God's name and our teaching may not be slandered.

Slavery is wrong. I don't even know if I believe in the bible anymore. It probably was written by the ones who controlled people to make them accept slavery - cheerfully too. Such BS. No one should enslave anyone. Period!
