Nowhere, unless the dog is defective.

EDIT: You'd get a better quality dog for less money by going to a *good* breeder.

Pet stores sell puppymill dogs (you can go to nopuppymills.com to see why this is SO bad) without exception. Please do not help these companies to breed and sell.

You might try thinking about a rescue chihuahua. Try petfinder.com and type in the breed and your zip code.

Edit note: an inexpensive animal is just that. there is a reason a dog is "cheap" if from a breeder. Good breeders generally do not sell through newspapers. Good breeders have litters with puppies sold prior to breeding as they are breeding the best of the best champion lines with the intention of improving the breed. They also do not breed often and absolutely never breed a young dog. It takes time to champion a dog.

Please read about buying an animal, if that is the only thing you wish to do. Each breed has health problems that you want to try to avoid. Health testing should be done, and you need to know what kind of health tests are required, insist they be done, etc.

Don't know and don't care since any dog from a pet store is from a puppy mill and to purchase one from a pet store for any price will simply support the puppy millers. Why don't you locate a responsible, knowledgeable breeder instead and get a dog that isn't going to support puppy millers (aka killers) as well as get a dog that is out of properly health, temperament and structurally evaluated parents instead of fifty pound Chihuahuas?

BTW, NO responsible, knowledgeable breeder would sell their dogs through a third party, a pet store or be hawking their puppies online or in the newspaper. Only puppy millers and ignorant back yard greeders do that and that is what you will support by buying from them.... the millions that end up killed in the world every year...

Getting a dog from a shelter is fine but buying into the lie that they are in any way healthier or longer lived or have better temperaments is simply foolish.

Very few pet stores will sell chihuahuas for that cheap. You are actually better from buying from a private seller. Sometimes dogs from pet stores aren't the healthiest animals. But buying from a person, they often have the parents of the pup and probaby breed them to sell. They sell them much cheaper and they are probably healthier dogs than dogs from a pet store.

Do NOT buy dogs from petstores . They're from puppymills and BYB's . They either have genetic problems or many many health problems . Espcially if the dog is " On Sale " . I would suggest you find a breeder for a quality chihuahua or look on petfinder.com to see if there are any chihuahua's in your area or within driving distance .

Your local animal shelter.

www.petfinder.com

The problem with pet stores is that they get dogs from puppymills. Puppymills keep hundreds of dogs in tiny little cages and breed them continuosly until they die at an early age. The puppies grow up in these cages without much human interaction at all, and then are shipped to pet stores where they are sold to uninformed buyers. Its factory farming of puppies.

If you are going to get a chihuahua, you will want to buy from a breeder or adopt from a rescue, not get one from a pet store.

Keep in mind that poorly bred chihuahuas tend to have health issues; the most common thing I have seen in them is luxating patella (knee problems) that will require expensive surgery to fix.

Well i got my chi over 10 months ago and im telling you inless you get a stray or old chi than your not going to get a healthy chi! I know a very good breeder in the Missouri area if you would like more information. I got a longhaired beatiful full bread chi for about 600! She has currently been entered into three dog shows and she took first in two and second in the other...these puppies are high quality and the family that sells them are not trying to take more money than needed. They strickley breed their chi's to make an encome for their family! If your interested in my breeders name you are more than welcomed to email me at britnyh13@yahoo.com and i can also send u a pick of my beatiful dog!

Not a pet store, pleeease. They are overpriced, they have poor quality animals (they buy from puppy mills) and they don't help if theres a problem. You will be much happier rescuing one form an animal shelter or if you must have a purebred, go to a local breeder.

Medium duration hair because it is easy to be able to handle and you can still perform most of the hairstyles

Look for a breeder. Pet shops are notorious for buying pups that are not real healthy and or not worth the money.
Find a real breeder, not a back yard breeder. I am sure you can find a pup. You might have to make payments though.....
