The tongues were human languages.

So if someone preaches or teaches in Chinese, for example, then someone translates that into the local language- then yes, I have seen that.

I've been to one church where they all speak in tongues at once.

I've been to another church where they have a time set aside apart from the regular time of preaching to speak tongues, etc., in order, according 1 Corinthians 14.

Very few churches seem to follow this instruction, however.

I have never seen this in person.

I would wonder why if I did see it!! It was clearly purposeful at pentecost because many foreign unbelievers had congregated in Jerusalem for a Jewish feast. In order for them to hear the gospel someone would have to preach to them in their spoken tongue so the Holy Spirit enabled the apostles with this ability. Clearly purposeful.

I do believe that "tongues" is a gift from the Holy Spirit but I would be skeptical if this gift was displayed at a service where the language they were speaking was not necessary for the congregation to understand the message.

Not only that, I also have never seen any church or person even claim to speak in tongues as the apostles did in Acts 2

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance...... 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language.

Yeah, and it was a load of crap too. Only one time did I meet someone who spoke in true tounge during service, and the pastor was translating, and I swore I could understand him. Than my brother elbowed me and he goes,"Am I crazy?" and I'm like if you are so am I. Basically what we were hearing that this was a false house of the Lord, Almighty, Creator of All, the Bearer of Gifts, and that the message you are hearing is full of lies and deciet. After that my brother and myself never returned, and later we found out that the pastor was skimming funds and having 'several' affairs.

I have seen people speak in tongues. I have seen even more than one person doing it at the same time...but never in the way that it is spoken of in the bible.

No I haven't./
The purpose of speaking in 'tongues' (other known languages) was/is to glorify Christ. Everyone that I've seen "speaking in tongues" was glorifying his/her self.

Sending you a smile to help pick up your day!

Today, the tongues are demonic, just like those mediums in the Hindu or Buddhist temples - same spirit(s)
