Why are guys so confusing?

I like this guy, he asked a friend of my what he has to do with me (because he knows that I like him) and he answered to him: you should go out with her when you're both not drunk!
The next day he send me a text message, but it has been 4 days and he didn't send me anything back!
should I send to him or do I have to wait? I'm kind of new with all of this, so I could use some advice, my friends say I have to wait!
