If so, what is your take on what is discussed in the beginning, specifically religion (the development of religion), and how it is presented?
If you haven't seen it and are interested, you can find it at:

Mike...
A couple of things:
I am very well read... thank you. Even so, books are typically just as full of someone's opinions as are movies. So, your recommendation doesn't mean much. If what you mean by "book" is The Bible, then I will tell you this: I have probably read it in greater detail than many people who espouse the "truth" that is contained therein. I studied Theology, with an emphasis on The Old Testament, in college.
You are making assumptions about my perception of the movie. I have not stated one way or another what I believe or what I think of the presentation of the material.
I do, however, appreciate that you answered the question at hand while you were giving my life direction.
:)

I watched part of it until I couldn't take listening to the one sided and distorted arguments that were presented. The narrator says that he doesn't know what God is but he knows what God is not.
Right off the top you see that this guy is like some O.J. Simpson lawyer who is mixing truth with lies in order to lead people to the verdict that he has in mind instead of being like a teacher who presents facts and asks the students to consider them with an impartial attitude and come to their own conclusions.
How can someone not know what God is and then claim to know what God is not? If you don't have a standard by which to compare something with then you can't really know anything about it with certainty.
Then the movie goes on to present a lot of fallacious arguments to "prove" that Jesus is just another manifestation of an age old myth. The fact that Jesus was not really born on December 25th is totally ignored. Instead the tradition started by the rulers in Rome that He was born on that day which they used to replace the pagan festivals is presented as Biblical teaching.
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find out that the Devil himself or one of his evil spirits was moving in the hearts of the people who created this cunningly deceptive movie.
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God actually say...
1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,

I saw it and I liked it.
When it comes to this film, learned atheists are waving the flag for Christians. (at least on this board) It's total BS. I tried to research it and couldn't even find other authors talking about that.
the rest of it concerning the gov. is 90% true. I have read a few books that explore those points.

The part about Jesus was interesting but not always supported by facts and sometimes just too 'out there' (the constant hammering on sun/son comes to mind, I mean really, what does the similar sound of two words in a language that wasn't around in biblical times signify?)
The tinfoil-hat conspiracy world government crap that came after that was not worth watching at all. If people control world wars, why would they let some pesky filmmaker expose them? He would be swimming with concrete boots on.

I watched the first part of it from your link.First of all the things that he states as facts are incorrect.Jesus wasn't born in December but during the spring. There wasn't 3 kings that came looking for the baby Jesus. That as made up in a Christmas song.If you want to really know the facts about these things at least you should read the book and not take somebodies opinion as to what it says.

Poor history.Good research on the illuminati.Nothing new.The lies about Christianity are old and stale.Hislop traced all those lies a century ago.And Springmeier details the illuminati in far more detail in a book without need of a flashy movie presentation. http://www.piney.com/HislopTOC1.html

I found it pretty interesting, only that first part and some on the takes on history. The rest of it I still watch it with a careful eye.

I've seen it, it didn't give me any information that years of study haven't provided me with already... In terms of presentation, I wouldn't have kept editing it together with a George Carlin stand up comedy routine I would have used that time to impart more information...

I saw about 30 minutes of it and was so disgusted, I turned it off. Satan really works overtime to undermine God and get people to turn against Him.
