I can get an atheist to open a clogged toilet before opening a bible. It makes you wonder. I've been watching this site for some time now. Atheists balk when you say they are not educated about the bible.

there is even a touch of cynisism in my question, but I do want to get some answers.
You know, if you don't know why Christians don't do what is in leviticus for example, then you are going to start really getting cynical...you know? it just keeps going.

You do not need to be a religious fanatic to be educated about the bible. Many of the atheists here were once Christians and read the bible in Church Youth Groups or on Sundays, which is why I (and hopefully you) can understand where their anger is coming from when you tell them they're uneducated.
Atheists, just as well as Pagans, Wiccans, Buddhists, Jews, Catholics, Muslims, and other people of faith have just as much a right to ask questions, seek answers, and provide their own insight as you do - we're not searching for God or for anyone to revitalize our faith, we're just curious people - just as you are.
But like any good person.. when our beliefs are questioned and what we think is mocked, we get angered and some people don't handle their anger as well as others, which is why you'll often see angry posts by atheists, giving us a bad name.
We're not cynical people - just take a second to sit and have an actual conversation with an atheist. We're really, very nice people once our beliefs aren't being challenged. :)

On ex-atheist.com an ex-atheist explains that some atheists are mad at God so this is how they get back at Him. They do whatever they can to trip up God's people, since they can't harm God Himself. They claim to not believe there is a God, but I don't see the same hateful words poured out toward the tooth fairy or Santa Clause.
They truly believe that Christianity is a scourge of evil, so much so, that they cannot see the good Christianity has done. That is why I have a hard time paying attention to some of them - they reject all good and accept all that is bad - their perspective is totally skewed.
This is not true of all atheists. Many atheists have problems with the logic of Christianity, but some in such a group fail to see that we don't accept all things based on logic alone. Love is an example. Love is real, but it's hard to put it into a logical framework. Other atheists illogically make the logical framework so restrictive that a Christian is not allowed to show why God is real. God's reality is logically defensible.

Excuse me. I`m an atheist and I know the bible sir. I get mad when believers pick and choose which verses to base their beliefs on. The Bible is the best atheist maker there is. Have you ever really read this hideous book?
Duteronomy 13:7-11
If your brother, the son of your father or your mother, or your son or daughter, or the spouse whome you embrace, or your most imtimate friend, tries to secretly seduce you, saying, " Let us go and serve other gods,"Unknown to you or your ancestors before you, away, anywhere throughout the world, you must not consent, you must no listen to him; you must show him no pity, you must not spare him or conceal his guilt. No, you must KILL HIM, your hand must strike the first blow in putting him to death and the hands of the rest of the people following. You must STONE him to death, since he has tried to divert you from Yahweh your God.
Are you kidding me? What about the 10 commandments that religious moderates ostensibly uphold. Notice how they never mention killing people on the sabbath. Jesus is not much better. He never admonsihed slavery. Ohh but he did say one good thing in regards to slaves. "You should not beat some slaves as hard as others."
How do you think this sounds to an intelligent rational human being?

Many atheists are former Christians. Maybe they knew their Bible so well that it didn't make sense to them anymore? If it makes sense to you then that truly is lovely but it's not for everyone. I do think that they are searching but not for the thing you would like them to search for. I think it's good to get an opposing point of view so that you can think about it. Sure, some people give cynical responses, others just disagree with you. Also, your first comment about the toilet isn't going to help your case much. Namaste

The Bible is proof enough that Christianity is pure rubbish... if more people actually read the bible, there would be fewer Christians because it is so ridiculous.
Many atheists know the bible better than many Christians and they visit this site, not looking for answers, but to help the delusional ones abandon their false beliefs.

Atheists are here to help spread knowledge and wisdom to poor, deluded Christians.
It's plain wrong to claim that Atheists won't open a Bible. Most Atheists know more about the Bible than most Christians.

By what standard would you say cynical? By the overwhelmingly cynical and fact-free nature of your question, the most rabidly cynical atheist on this site should be considered for sainthood (irony intended). They have the facts about the bible and are less cynical than this question.

I'm cynical of god. But I don't treat others with contempt for not believing as I do. Some atheists are quite well read when it comes to the bible. I'm not one. I find it extremely tedious to read.

I've been opening Bibles for years, that what makes me know the Bible god is fake. I took Bible classes all through high school.
As for searching for answers on here, yes. One question I'd like an answer to is how come adults can believe that stuff?

Well then, yes, I am cynical. I AM educated about the Bible and other religions, and I feel very offended when people say that's why I DON'T believe, when in fact, the fact that they're NOT educated about their own religion is the very reason they DO believe.
