Heck YA!
Two of my boys have been cooking for several years now. The oldest was cooking when he was 7 or something (he is 17 now and thinking of going to school for it), the other started on simple things when he was 8 (when his older brother would let him in there lol), he is 12 now.
I believe kids can do anything with the proper education and assistance. My boys friends are amazed when the kids ask for something and I tell them sure go make it!
My middle boy doesn't like to cook, but he sure can eat!
Remember though starting out you really need a adult to supervise. We have had two mishaps that I can remember, the oldest kid did not listen when we told him the knife he was using was a professional knife and kept vary sharp (he cut himself pretty good). The youngest boy dripped something on the stove and it went up in flames (it was not a fire, just a flame).
Find a chicken recipe and read up on it. Good think about cooking is it teaches reading, science, and math.
We are a family with a long history of cooks in the family, a very good trade to be in I think.

I guess it would all depend on the maturity of the child. I have an 11 yr old, and is interested in cooking. I'm sure if I took her into the kitchen and showed her how to use the stove top/oven, to prepare and cook the chicken, as well as explain the dangers of handling the raw chicken, she could do it. I would oversee her, of course, but she could do it. It just really depends on how your child is.
There's no reason why you can't bring your child into the kitchen while you cook and have them watch & learn, and let them do things little by little....

Yes. 11 year olds should be able to cook ALOT of things. Why do parents not teach their children to cook? I learned to cook before I was in the double digits and both my boys were able to cook complete meals by middle school age.
When my oldest boy was in 3rd grade he made homemade whole wheat bread-by himself and NOT with a bread maker-for his whole class for Thanksgiving.

Absolutely, with the caveat that an adult needs to be supervising. I'd start first with easier kinds of meats (ones where no one will get sick if it's undercooked). Start with hot dogs (really you're just reheating something that's already cooked). Then move on to hamburgers (a little pink? no big deal). Then try chicken.

It depends on the 11 year old. Many can.
I know 40 year olds I wouldn't let near the stove.

It depends on the 11 year old. Can they follow directions and do they know kitchen safety. Some do.
