Cheapest butter at Asda & Tesco was 53p went to 70p now 85p
Of the 13.5 billion litres of milk that British cows produce each year, seven billion go into pints of fresh milk. The rest is processed into milk powder, cheese, butter and other ingredients that are exported on to the global market.
A year ago, skimmed milk powder on the world market was being sold for £1,000 a ton. It is now fetching £2,400 it is global demand.

I can sympathise entirely, as you probably know I live in New Zealand which has more sheep and cows than people and we pay outrageous prices for our dairy products and some meat is so expensive that I would have to take out a mortgage to pay for it.Makes you wonder who's getting fat on our money.
