All too often we think we know what is best for us- we want something and pray for something that is just not in His will- sometimes He will allow these things for a time so that we can get a picture of what it is we are really asking for (as he did in the case of Saul when the Isrealites demanded a king)
Other times we just get a solid no and hopefully we come to the realization that though what we were praying for seemed like a good thing, it would have only caused strife, stress or hindered something even better from happening in the future.
Sometimes unanswered prayers can seem frustrating but if we truly trust God, and make Him the Lord over our life instead of ourselves we can see the blessing nad the gift in the unanswered prayer.

It means that in a situation you may pray asking for something you want. For example, I want ...to love me. But say your prayer goes unanswered, your life takes on a new direction, you meet someone that you love more than you ever loved the other person. If God had answered the prayer, you would not have taken the same journey, met the same people. So sometimes not getting what you wanted at that exact moment, is the best thing that could happen.

One of the greatest gifts a person can make for themselves is decisiveness, which is useful for getting things done. Prayer does not work for obtaining results.
Prayer in itself is a useful tool for focussing the mind, and indeed an 'unanswered prayer' would help more in focussing than an 'answered prayer'.

I really like your question, a very special friend had a massive stroke on Monday and is still in the hospital, I live very far from my friend right now,and two people that are friends are helping me out with him on right, and yes unanswered prayers do get answered , Peace and love to you my friend! Hugs to your family!

I agree with above...all prayer is answered, but God only gives us what is best for us. But definitely though...what many people consider "unanswered" prayers are certainly some of God's greatest gifts to us!!

Yes. The death of a family member is an excellent gift from a supernatural being that supposedly "loves us all".

Yes I do believe that. I desperately wanted to go to a particular university to do a particular course, I prayed I would make it but and I didn't get in. I went to another university where I met my fiance, if I'd gone where I wanted I wouldn't have met him and wouldn't be so happy now.

At some point most of us wish for (pray for) things that may not be particularly good for us. Whether we get them or not has nothing to do with a god.
I'm not yelling either. Peace.
