1. String theory - Interesting mathematically, but since it has yet to make any testable predictions its not something I'd put any stock in. I would think that there might be some other theory that is simpler but makes more sweeping predictions.

2. Evolution - The best theory we have so far about the developement of life on our planet. I love it. It fits all the facts and makes testable predictions. It is simple and yet describes all sorts of phenomena in biology. Personally, I think the idea that all life on Earth is interconnected is quite beautiful.

3. Big Bang Theory - Although there are some problems with the Big Bang model of our universe, it is definitely one of the simpler extensions of general relativity to cosmology. I'd have to say that I agree with it for the moment, but I think it will likely be modified or replaced in the future as we grow to know more about the workings of the Universe and our place in it.

I'm a pantheist with christian tendencies. I don't think people should base their religion on science. They are different approaches to truth. Science approaches truth empirically through experiment and observation. A scientist thinks that truth is sitting out there in the world waiting to be discovered. Religion approaches truth rationally. A religious person often thinks that truth lies within and can be known through prayer, meditation, divine revelation, and personal reflection. I think its important to avoid all extremes and approach truths from both perspectives. Some truths may be best approached through science and some truths through religion. Taken individually, both approaches have their limitations. Perhaps science and religion are like the wave models and particle models of light. Both describe some phenomena well, but individually neither one is capable of describing all phenomena. When taken together, all things are explainable. The two views compliment one another.

Just a thought...

i don't believe in the string theory, however, the Big Bang theroy and the theory of Evolution are the most probable and possible "theories" that ther are!

While i'm at it i would like to say that in science, almost everything is a "theory," this does not lessen their integrity! thre are severalscientific "laws" but even these might someday change! even such principles as gravity are still labeled theories, because they cannot be proven, do not try to argue against evolution or the big bang by saying that it is a theory, it only serves to show that you don't know the meanig of the word.

No religion.

1) On the fence, it looks a bit like a theorizing after the fact. I'm leaning towards a field theory approach.

2) Believe

3) Believe

No religion

1) No. Though I think it interesting and promising, it has made no substatiated predictions. When it does, I will change my position.
2) Evolution is fact, the theory is about how it happens, not if it happes. Anyone who does not accept this reality is disturbed.
3) Yes, huge amounts of evidence.

1) No-one has provided enough evidence to say 100%, but theoretically it's strongly viable. When that Higgs particle shows up, that should seal it.
2) Beyond any possible doubt.
3) By far the best proposed theory - though it is a bit more complex than "poof!"

I never heard of the String Theory so no idea. The other two are true. The facts are all around us.

string theory is hotly debated right now as there are several variants within it; I believe that one of them will be proven

evolution has, is, and will continue to occur

big bang is the most reasonable exaplanation offered yet for our univere's formation

I am an atheist.
