edit: manup - i'm not sure who these pagans are that you know, but i know TONS of them, and they all celebrate their birthdays! but maybe it's a geographical thing, who knows. where do you live?

How do we celebrate birthdays? Well usually people buy things for us. We like to call them "birthday presents". Then after dinner on that night, we have what we call a "birthday cake", it's like a regular cake except we stick several diminutive taper candles in the top and light them on fire. Then we sing a song for the person celebrating their birthday, and after the song, he/she attempts to blow out the candles all at once, because if they do, their wish on that day will come true. Then we serve the cake after taking out and licking the frosting off the small candles.

It's strange, I know.

Happy Birthday Riegan!

We don't do anything out of the ordinary. Usually cake, ice cream, candles and Happy Birthday.

Of course, my own group of friends are more likely to sing the "Happy Birthday Dirge." ;-)

Happy Birthday! (uh!)
Happy Birthday! (uh!)
Doom, destruction and despair,
People dying everywhere,
Happy Birthday!

This may have more to do with how many of us have a history of SCA and/or fandom than our paganism. ;-)

Happy Birthday Riegan!!!

I celebrate first by thanking all my mothers...I call my mother and thank her. I thank the goddess and mother Earth! Then after reflecting on the past year, contemplate on the next year to come....party my butt off to celebrate that I made it to another one.
