Those then that are come into the new life, the new understanding, the new regeneration, there is then the new Jerusalem. It is not as a place alone but as a condition, as an experience for the soul.
Jerusalem has figuratively, symbolically, meant the holy place, the holy city for there the ark of the covenant, in the minds, the hearts, the understandings,the comprehensions of those who have put away earthly desires and become as the new purposes in their experience, become the new Jerusalem, and new undertakings, the new desires,and interpretation

The Holy Jerusalem is that estate that is attained through the purification processes that occurred earlier in the Revelation. Now we have come to holy purpose and the holies become our dwelling.

According to the Catholic Bible, the Book of Revelation cannot be adequately understood except against the historical and symbolic descriptions are not to be taken as literal descriptions.

The future holds for us a new earth, which is when earth and heaven essentially merge.
Revelation 21 says in figurative lingo that the holy city, the New Jerusalem, comes down from heaven to earth and that God from then on dwells with mankind from the throne in the New Jerusalem. Notice that the New Jerusalem is described as a bride, which is the same thing the church is described as. Heaven and earth will be joined, like the old hymn;

"This is my Father’s world: the battle is not done:
Jesus Who died shall be satisfied,
And earth and Heaven be one."

The "new Jerusalem" is a mis-spelling of the (now revealed to us) heavenly sphere headquarters of our system, which is named Jerusem, not the mere physical city here of "Jerusalem". Jerusem is super-physical; for example, our future space-ships could go through it and we would not even know it - it is fully invisible and non-detectable by physical equipment or human physical senses.

We will ascend up into Jerusem and it's many training spheres in Heaven soon after physical death here. Much later we will ascend up through over one billion ever higher spheres in our ever perfecting ascension as a Divinely Beloved Son of God in Jesus Christ into the Father-Infinite I AM on infinite, perfect, eternal Paradise ! What a Glorious Destiny we have ! Thank You, our Sovereign Savior God Jesus Christ !

Later, when earth's Humans are more perfected, many of the higher functions of heavenly Jerusem will be transferred to down here. Earth is even now our first and lowest "Kindergarten Heaven" where we are born to start our long Paradise perfection journey !

Our loving Father God and Savior Jesus have Both given us this loving Invitation-Command: " I AM the Almighty God; walk before Me, and Be You perfect,
even as I AM perfect."

The NT talks about how are are already come into the heavenly Jerusalem (Heb 12:22).

The NEW Jerusalem technically are the new Isralites, the new chosen nation, the new chosen people. And who are these people? any religion will claim that they are the new chosen people.

This is the interpretation of NEW Jerusalem which I think the most accurate. Others just rely to mere guesses and pre-conceived beliefs in making other interpretations.

Funny thing in Rev 21 is: bride is above, husband is below.
Perhaps husband of this bride is Satan, cast dwn in Rev 12.
