Yes - "That the Christ must suffer, and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light both to the people and to the Gentiles." (Acts 26:23)
No - Lazarus (John 11:43-44), Jairus's daughter (Mark 5:22-24; 35-43), and the widow's son (Luke 7:12-15) were already raised from the dead before Jesus. There is also an Old Testament story about Elisha raising a child from the dead. (2 Kings 4:32-35)
I hate it when I come across such blatant contradictions.

The contradiction is in one verse it says Jesus was the first to rise from the dead and in another it clearly states others have risen from the dead before him. Do some of you actually read the bibles that you claim to read or are you just a Christian so that you can judge others? Sheesh read the verses I have provided please

See, several zombies. They're considered evil these days, but for some reason when Jesus does it, it's holy.

Contradictions are fantastic, they just prove my points.

No, Jesus was not the first individual to rise from the dead. The Bible gives accounts of others such as a child that the prophet Elijah (or Elisha) raised from the dead, and they lived on the earth many years before Christ came to the earth.

However.....Jesus is the first to be resurrected to heavenly life after having lived as a human.

If you'd actually do any Bible research, you'd be less quickly inclined to count such things as "contradictions", when they're not.

Acts 26:23 (anastasis) means resurrection

Luke 7:12-15 ((egeiro) means arise

Again you show your lack of Biblical understanding because you don't even know the difference between the words. It is best that you stop with your little game, because you have not had a good point yet.

Christ was the First to be resurrected.

Are you so foolish to think that you have any conceptual understanding beyond a novice concerning scripture. You clearly are getting these from another website and before you post them you fail to do research to make sure they are accurate. Just so you know, everything that you can copy and past has been refuted.

The people you list were raised from the dead, later to die in the usual way. Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death for ever. It's the difference between a finite and an infinite verb. He was indeed the first person to rise from the dead, but believers look forward to the resurrection to eternal life in His name and power. As Revelation 1:18 says: "I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death."

No he wasn't, Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead... But Jesus was the first sacrifice to rise from the dead by his father that was acceptable to him and without sin, Jesus was the first fruit of the dead.

As a resurrected being, yes, Jesus was the first to be resurrected. Others were risen from the dead - back to mortality - meaning they would die again because they were not resurrected.

No he wasn't the first to rise from the dead; but he was the first to be resurrected - these are two different things.

To just rise from the dead is to return to a normal, mortal life where one is still subject to illness and, again, an eventual death.

To be resurrected is to return to an immortal glorified state where one is no longer subject to sickness or death.

Have a look at this film. It's a real eye-opener on this subject.

It's two hours long. The first part deals with religion. That's all you need look at regarding the subject you've raised.

The opening is a little long and visually hokey so be patient. Once they begin Part One, it becomes quite fascinating.

Jesus was the first person to rise from the dead who would never die again. In other words, He was the first to rise to eternal life as opposed to someone who had be resuscitated from being dead.

What contradictions are you thinking of?

Jesus WAS the first person to rise from the dead BY HIS OWN POWER!

No one else has!

I see no contradictions.

It this what you are talking about?
