When I play a blue ray movie or any movie, I get a darker image than normal. For example, the movie 300 is a dark movie, but when played in the PS3 I couldn't see the movie clearly. Any ideas or anyone with a similar problem. The PS3 is connected to a Sony 1080i flat screen. No problems with the game play (most games only play up to 780p) or any advice to this too.

If the TV has an intergreted dvd or recording device the Blueray Movie security coding will prevent it from playing correctly. If the ps3 is routed through a entertainment system with recording abilities it will not play some Blueay movies due to security coding to prevent people from copying movies. Some movie discs have it some don't. We have the hdmi from PS3 directly to tv and Audio seperate to surround system. Most of the games that came bundled with the ps3 are only 720p and your tvs maximum is only 720p regardless of ythe 1080i. Check the game itself for it's maximum output

Well it might the setting you have on your television. I had a similar problem so i reset my setting on my television and it worked fine but another problem could be what the other guy said as far as how you got your connection setting if you have it hook up to a vcr or something along those setting then it will not come clear like it should because of the copyright protection. I had my ps2 connected to a vcr and when i played movie it would go from dark to light every 5-10 minutes. So you might want to try and change it to directly hooking up to your television if it isn't already...those are the 2 thing i could think of what would make your console not work properly.

Yes, it does play blu-ray movies. It's only worth playing blu-ray movies if your PS3 is conncected to an HDTV with an HDMI cable:)

Just turn the brightener up on your TV, and if that doesn't work maybe there are some settings on your PS3 that you accidentally turned down.
