Abstinence.
In as much as abstinence signifies abstaining from food, the Bible narrative points to the first instance wherein such a course of conduct was imposed by law (Genesis 2:16-17).
The obvious purpose of this mandate was to lead the moral head of the human race to recognize the necessary dependence of creature upon Creator. The hour which witnessed the transgression of this law marked an increase in the debt which the creature owed the Creator.
The New Testament:
In the first portion of the Gospel St. Matthew relates how Christ passed forty days in the desert, during which time neither food nor drink passed his lips. No doubt this penance was exemplary.
Acts 15:29, Acts 13:3; 14:22 , 1 Corinthians 9:25, 2 Corinthians 6:5, 2 Corinthians 11:27

The only thing mentioned in the Bible is adultery. Adultery in Biblical times was defined as a woman having sex outside of marriage. It was considered OK for a man to do so if he could find a willing adulterous partner.
In practical terms, in our modern world there are good things and bad things about abstinence. You have to decide whether it's the right thing for you to do after you carefully think about all the pros and cons, and what you can do to make sexual activity safer.

Per say, abstinence isn't in there, but it was thought that if a woman was not a virgin when she was married, she was unclean. Also, if a woman was raped, the man raping her was required to marry her, and if he refused, they would both be killed. Just look in the Old Testament.

Abstinence is okay if you're doing it because you have not found an appropriate partner, or if you just don't feel like having sex.
If you're doing it because you're scared that the big sky daddy will let you burn in the lake of fire if you have any fun, then you've been brainwashed into missing out on one of life's best experiences.

Ephesians 5:3
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints.
Sex without marriage is fornication. Abstinence is waiting until marriage before having sex or abstaining until marriage.

Yes. It is a sin to fornicate, which means that you must wait until you are married. Also, celibacy is biblical.
Mt 19:12 - celibacy praised by Jesus, who was celibate
And so forth...
