Growing up in the US, my family celebrated Advent with wreathes, calendars, cookie baking and decorating. But by the time I was a young adult the tradition seemed to have fallen out of favor. After moving to Europe and starting a family of my own, I've discovered that here the month before Christmas is filled with wonderful family feasts, events and traditions.

Does your family celebrate this special time? And if so, how?

Yes we do. We have an advent wreath with the different color candles and we light one for each week before Christmas. Our church has advent services every Wednesday and different groups take turns hosting a meal at 6pm before the service at 7. I also have an advent calendar where we open a little door, and behind the door is a picture with a little 1 line sentence about the Christmas story of the birth of Jesus, our Savior. So by the time all 24 doors are open, you have the whole story told. I would like to know of more traditions I could do too.

certainly, yuletide became right into a pagan pageant to rejoice the iciness solstice. Constantine, being a clever chief, found out he in basic terms could no longer tell human beings to end celebrating their classic vacations so he quite hijacked the yuletide holiday and became it into Christmas. that's for this reason that a lot of our Christmas traditions including the Christmas tree, the yuletide log, or maybe the Christmas ham have their roots set firmly in pre-Christian pagan custom.

No, we don't. We do cut out cookies and decorate them for Thanksgiving, sometimes we decorate the inside of the house.
