My father in law cooked it for me (I had never tried it before) and I loved it. I need to find out how to cook it because I now love it. Thanks.

In our family we always either boil them or grill them. I personally think they taste the same either way but some people prefer one over the other.

Crazy...lol

I put it in a small baking dish with butter and soy sauce and bake it in the over for about 1/2 hour at 350 degrees. Cover it with tin foil.

buy nice fresh stalks , bring them home, rinse them, hold them at each end and bend gently till they snap, toss the thick part its tough, ( yes the asparagus KNOWS where to break)

toss in cold water in a pan on stove turn up heat to medium , let cook at medium till fork tender but NOT soft..
drain and serve, either naked or with butter

I steam it because it does not get the vitamins out. It is more healthier. If you want flavor, fry it in butter, then you can bake it after on a low temp with some water.

Fresh asparagus is wonderful........... steam it in a veggie steamer or on top of the stove in a little bit of boiling water.. or in your microwave if you have a fresh veggie option.

I steam mine for about 8 minutes, and then put hollandaise on them. When my hubby makes asparagus, he tosses them with sesame oil and garlic and grills them. I love it both ways!

blanch it in boiling water for 30-45 sec. and emerse in icewater.
Blot dry and place in pan. drizzle with EVO (extra virgin olive oil) and a good basamic vinegar. sprinkle with kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper. place in 350 d. oven for 10 min.

Simple but tasty.
