No way. Most Cities don't give take home cars to full time police. The cost of the cars and the fuel would destroy most budgets.

No. Reserve officers usually only come in when they need them or only 5-10 times a month. The fuel and cars cost a lot of money. My dad is a police officer w/ the California Highway Patrol. Only the captain, K-9, and the motorcycles can take their vehicles home.

Let me answer this with a question or two.
What would the reason for a reserve police officer to need a take home car? They after all are not full time police. I really don't agree with Full time police taking home cars unless they are on call and most are not. So why have take home cars that are paid for out of our Tax Money at all?

I'd have to say no. Having a take-home car is a huge responsibility and I don't think any department would give this to most police officers, let alone reserve officers. Plus some jerk will toss a brick through the window in the wee hours. Just not worth it.

No. Reserve police officers do not work enough to justify spending $25,000 on a police car just for them to take home. All of them would have to be issued one instead of just having one car for the whole lot of them.

Absolutely not. My agency allows only full time officers/detectives/command staff to have take home vehicles and even then they have to live within the city limits. Their is no reason for a reserve officer to have a take home vehicle. The vehicle would just sit in the driveway rusting away until the next parade or traffic control event for the parade.

No, It costs a police department a lot in maintenance on vehicles. They get a great deal of wear and tear. Most of the reserves our department has don't work enough to warrant them having a take home car.

NO

TOO MANY SHARE THE VEHICLE AND IT SHOULD BE IN A COMMON PLACE WITH EASY ACCESS TO ALL WHO NEED THE VEHICLE. IF YOU WANT A CAR SO BAD THEN BECOME A REAL OFFICER AND GET YOUR OWN CAR?

Only if you want your taxes raised to cover the cost of fuel and buying more vehicles.
