I am looking to buy an HDTV which I can connect to my computer. My concern is that the TV I am looking at does not have a DVI input but rather component and analog inputs. I can't use analog inputs because my p/c dvd player can't play modern dvds with the newer protections. Would component (connects through the s-video part of my video card) video support newer dvds or should I stick with DVI inputs?

HDMI/DVI are digital connections. Digital tv signal from your cable/sat/dvd/etc is sent to TV, and TV displays it.
Any other connection, including COMPONENT are analog. Digital signal from cable/sat/dvd is converted to analog, sent to your tv which converts the analog signal to digital to be displayed.
Any additional conversion degrades the signal
Don't buy any TV without HDMI input (DVI is OK, as long as it is with HDCP)

S-video supports up to 480p, which would degrade HD. It looks fine with DVD, which is lower resolution than HD, but it doesn't look as good as the HD inputs where there's a separate wire for each of three colors.

Dont buy the TV if it does not have DVI or HDMI.

You can get DVI->HDMI cable to hook your computer up to the TV. The video signals are the same in both.

if your hdtv doesn't have at least one hdmi input (wich is really weird) then is not worth it........hdmi would give you the best picture quality
