Churches didn't even acknowledge that suicide is human choice do they?

Some churches acknowledge it as a personal choice.

Others, who follow Calvinist theology would use the line you quoted or something very similar to that.

Remember that not all churches are Calvinists.

Your complaint is only about the beliefs of Calvinists not all Christians.

I think that when a person takes their own life there are a lot of reasons. Some of the main ones are drugs, alcohol and severe depression, it is in the end their their final choice. I do not think that a god has any thing to do with it, If you are considering suicide before you try it I think you need to talk it over with your pastor or seek some professional help, with a little effort you can change your life! I am sure you can find reasons to continue your life.

If what you say is true and it is a choice then what can be said about Gods sovereignty? He knows the beginning from the end. He knows all things. I would rather question the identity of the person committing suicide. Would a real Christian do such a thing? Personal choice is an illusion to undermine Gods authority.

What you're quoting is from one person. It's not Scripture. Someone else might have said something differently. What is your point of view that we are to take in answering this question? Someone whose close friend or relative has committed suicide or distant acquaintance, someone who is contemplating suicide, or the friend of someone contemplating suicide? You ask this question matter of factly as if you are a student in a college counselling class. You ask a very complex question. There are so many different responses to this question that can go all over the place. Please qualify your point of view here so our answers will be better focused to the perspective you have.

Suicide is a personal choice, and a horrible thing to do. To put it bluntly, it's murder, because your life belongs to God and not to yourself. You have no right to kill anyone, including yourself. But people at funerals are grieving, and going around talking about someone who committed suicide as a murderer is a harsh and cruel thing to say at a time like that. So people use euphemisms to soften the blow. That's all.

There is only one unforgivable sin and suicide is not it. Having said that, does not mean that a person can kill themself. The 10 commandments says... Thou Shall not kill. So if you kill even yourself, you are breaking the 10 commandments.

You can be forgiven, but what happens if you die before you can repent and ask for forgiveness?

I don't know, that is for another question I guess.

I have been suicidal a few times and can relate to how one feels and what can get a person feeling that way. How ever, I was smart enough to ask for help when I got that way. I am still here. Killing one's self is one of two things...

A feeling of total hopelessness, which means you are devoid of trust in God and have lost all hope.

Or

You are weak and need to get angry, fight to live, get a back bone, never quit and don't take the coward's way out.

Food for thought...

A very wise pastor told me once, that if a person thinks killing themself will end their problems, think again, at the point of death, their problems just got suddenly worse. You still have to meet your maker and answer to him for murdering his precious child. (I have been suicidal but never wanted to kill myself, there really is a difference.)

You are confused. Suicide is not a good thing-except in most rare of circumstances. If some young person took their own life-then something was dreadfully wrong. You can rest assured that satan was involved.

God the Son Jesus Christ was very radical about committing suicide... offending a child who happens to belive in Jesus ammounts to a suicide!

Mat 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and [that] he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
