At 4 weeks you can start offering them good quality dry puppy food moistened with warm water. You don't switch them, though, the mom will wean them gradually. Start offering them food 3 times a day and let the mom finish what the puppies don't eat. You also need to be offering them fresh water at this time.

The pups will be ready to start on a soft food at about age 2 weeks. They will readily eat this. Get a good dry puppy food grind it into small pieces add a milk supplement as the puppies age add less and less milk. Until they are eating just the puppy food. Also the older they get the less you grind the food. They will increase the solid food and take less from mom. They should be totally broke from mom by the age of 8 weeks. If they are still milking off of mom they are not ready to go to their new homes.

at 31/2-4 weeks.
The pup and mom shuld be wormed at 2,4,6,8 and 10 weeks ( not over the counter wormer but get from the vet)
It's best if the pups get 1st vaccine at 6 weeks and go to new homes at 8 weeks or definately eating solid food
At 31/2-4 weeks you should moisten puppy chow with water, puppy formula,or goats milk. Make it into a very mushy soup0 like consitency ( more that they can lap up) Waht I do is let mom feed them good before I go to bed and then seperate mom from pups for the night, first thing in the morning give the pups the mush and allow 15 min to eat ( you may need to put tehir muzzles in teh food or putr a little in the mouth.
Then let mom in to nurse. She can eat whats left.
feed them this 3--4 times aday. the next week not as mushy let them start to have to chew but just slightly. the next week just thicker and start to leave a bowl of water so they can start to drink the water aslo leave a bowl of dry food so they can nibble on it on and offl.
by 7-8 weeks they should be eating solid dry food.
Some pups however just like babies may take a little longer that's why it's important to make sure they are eating before allowing them to go to new homes.

Great answer Walking Lady.
The only thing that I would add is that the water should be luke warm when adding it to the puppy food and be sure to add enough.
You want to be able to make a gruel out of it.
Kinda like baby food.

I start mine on puppy mush at 3 weeks. They continue nursing as long as the dam allows it. I let her wean them when she is ready.

Perhaps you should have done some research first?

Six weeks is a good age. That's why you buy puppies starting from six weeks, because they don't need milk anymore.
