Imagine you and your bros have 2 weeks left before you go home. A gung-ho captain wants to send you out in the jungle at night just to look for trouble. Shouldn't that captain be eliminated? Where's your loyalty..to the bros or to a mindless, unnecessary mission?

A lot of officers killed in combat were killed by their own people! The military will never admit this fact, especially to their new officer cadets! They usually get killed when they turn to run away and take it in the face! But there was one top that had a grenade attached to the leg of his bunk and the springs in the center. When he climbed into bed, right through the top of the tent! This guy lived, without the use of his legs! All kinds of crap happens in a combat area! The officers have to walk on egg shells, not like in conus!

Lets say you kill the Captain...

The next highest ranking officer would take over and more than likely order you to do the same thing.

Your saying that a normal soldier can make a decision as to what exactly a "mindless unnecessary" mission is?

Sorry its not their place to make those decisions.

This happened on a small scale in Vietnam, so did large amounts of drug use, with the combination of poorly trained drafted troops.

Also, I am sorry but there is never a cause for intentional fratricide of an officer, if you disagree with a lawful order then you should intentionally disobey it and hold yourself accountable for the consequences if not doing your duty is so important to you.

Fragging is the act of a coward, luckily our military seems to be more professional now.

Also...I seriously doubt that you served in Vietnam if your YA name is "g money."

I am a Vietnam vet also.....very familiar with fragging

.....as you know troops do not stand down until ten days before DEROS.....so the mission would be just as valid as at any other time..... and you have no way to know if the patrol is necessary or not ..... you do not know how your patrol fits into the "big picture"......or how many lives it might save......you just know YOU do not want to take the risk.... the risk you were paid to take and orders you swore to obey.

were there officers who were incompetant.....sure.....I knew several....did they get people killed.....yes.....and often themselves as well..... but your loyalty is to duty and the contract you signed......your street mentality will get more troops killed.....destroy the chain of command and render the military unable to defend the nation.

......used to be a favorite myth that the closer you got to returning to CONUS the greater the risk.....FALSE..... your risk is the same the first day as it is the last......if anything the risk is LESS because you are more experienced

So you want to be able to kill a man because you don't want to obey an order that might endanger you?
Your loyalty is to your country as represented in your officer.
If you get another officer who asks you to do the same thing, three days later, do you think you should be given a pass to kill him too so as to maybe save your own azz? How many in two weeks should you be allowed to take out?
Four? Two?
If you want to stay safe stay home. No one can say for sure where an attack will take place, or when, when you are in a war zone.
Fragging is murder, plain and simple.

I do remember that there was fragging in Viet Nam, as I recall second lieutenants were frequent targets. Early in this war there was a case of fragging too, the man was convicted.

Eliminated? There is no justification for MURDER! Bro!

And, I doubt if you were in the military at all, or ever in Vietnam Bro!

Being sent out on patrol is what you were getting paid for, Bro!

Sounds like you have a street-gang mentality, its not up to you Bro! to decide if a mission is mindless or unnecessary, Bro!

Murder is murder. Instead of fragging any officer for any reason, you and your buddies could just as easily have refused to execute the order(s). You'd be court martialed of course, maybe spend some time in the stockade, maybe not. But you'd be alive and so would the officer. Also, the court martial itself could conceivably reveal the subject officer to be totally incompetent and he'd be reassigned to some duty less likely to endanger the grunts.

FRAGGING IS NEVER NECESSARY. On the rare occasion you get a senior NCO or jr. officer that is incompitent the next ranking person should be running interference with the rest of the unit. ACTUALLY I CAN THINK OF ONE TIME FRAGGING WOULD BE OK ,TO BAD NO ONE IT YOUR SQUAD( if you were really down range) DID IT.

So you think it is okay to kill an officer because you think the mission is unnecessary and puts you and your bros in danger?

I would suggest you were never in the military or in Vietnam and have no idea about combat or military life.

The scenario you suggest would never qualify as being justified to kill an officer, and the military still executes members for murder.

Are you out of your frigging mind??!!!!

Shooting your commanding office, especially in a military zone?

If it happened, and you were the one who pulled the trigger, you deserve and should get the firing squad.
