That always makes me laugh, together with "look at rainbows, and puppies, and babies!" and "you can't see the wind, but it exists, and the same for God!".

Double points if they then go on to say how rotten mankind has gotten and that the end is nigh because god can't stand it any longer.

I am a nature lover , and have been all of my long life . You're right there is beauty in nature , the trees , the animals , clouds , lakes , wide vistas , so many beautiful things .
So god was the creator of all this beauty ? If so , he also created starvation , disease , murder , poverty , misery , hopelessness .
Why would anyone have the least bit of respect for anyone who created all that misery ? If he's "almighty " , he can do anything and everything, why the misery ?

What it boils down to, is that if people acknowledge that an intelligent and loving creator provided us these things and that he exists, that we would then be accountable to him for our actions. People are very selfish in that they want to do what they want to do with no prohibitions put upon them. So when you hear people say "there is no God", it's for one of several reasons (1) they don't want to believe there is a God they're accountable to, (2) they're just plain ignorant and/or stupid, or (3) both 1 & 2.
