The FCC has decreed that the cable companies must supply analog versions of the locally available over the air TV until at least 2012, or provide converter boxes. The cable companies can determine what they will do with the other analog channels they presently provide, like the History channel. If you want more than they will be providing in analog, you'll need cable boxes or new TVs.

At the point where broadcasts are in digital only - and there are no more analog broadcasts, your TVs will be able to get marginal reception of a few channels.

After putting up with crappy pictures and bad sound for a while, you'll have to head over to the store and purchase digital TVs.

It has been my experience that flat panel TVs in the 22 - 26 inch range are running about $300 - $700 each right now. I have no doubt that those prices will continue to drop, as all electronics do over time, so it comes down to how long you can hold out.

Buy a Digital to analog convertor.
Use to convert digital signal to RF signal where TV operates.

If you subscribe to cable no you won't have to buy any special equipment, you'll have to get a digital reciver though from the cable company, if you're going over antina, you'll have to buy a digital antina, you're TVs will still recive signal through coax, and will still recive normal signal this way.
