It means you believe you're forgiven.
Unfortunately, you're not.
Guilt is so essential to Judeo-Christian belief that it's the very first lesson taught in the Bible. Adam and Eve were expelled from the garden for defying God. This made God so indignant that he cursed all of mankind with "Original Sin". We are all born into sin because God decided to impute sin upon us to spite the descendants of Adam and Eve.
The greatest story ever told ends with closure to the Original Sin problem. Jesus is crucified to absolve us of our sin. The last lesson resolves the first one.
The problem is: IT'S ALL CONTRIVED. God imputes Original Sin onto all of humanity then later steps in, personally, to solve the problem he chose to create to begin with!!
It's all about guilt. That's how you're kept in line. That's how you're controlled. (Abrahamic) Religion cynically takes your basic goodness and uses it against you. The Bible pits you against yourself.
Politicians know the value of guilt. Emperor Constantine convened the Council of Nicea as a political maneuver to unify the upstart religion, Christianity. The Council knew what was expected of them. Because the Roman Empire was a pagan society, the Council incorporated pagan ideas and themes into Christian doctrine: ideas like the trinity, virgin birth, and resurrection. These are all themes from prior, pagan, religions; they were necessary to entice the pagans to convert.
Emperor Constantine realized the value and power of Christian beliefs and morality: by making Christianity the state religion of the Roman Empire, he gave it a boost that propelled it into the mightiest religion in the world.
You're not saved by Jesus . . . you're wasted by him.

If I was in a plane crash and Christ pulled me out at the last minute that would be "saved by Christ".

Well, if there is a Christ and I don't believe there is, then he failed you for sure. Get some English lessons and concentrate on religion as a second subject!

It means to be saved from the consequences of sin, which is death. It means being offered eternal life with God through His Son, Jesus.

To damn something is the same as to dam something; the progress is stopped. Jesus takes away the obstruction and allows us to continue to progress. He is the only one who has the power and authority to do so.
