its freakin cold out today. I don't know what woolens and brolly are but you will need a coat, hat, scarf and gloves. its windy out and when you have a wind gust it feels colder.
I know there is a currency exchange at 42nd street between 7 and 8th ave.

Right now, we had a bit of a "heat wave" for Thanksgiving where the temperature hit the 60 degrees mark. That is unusual. It's usually around 40 degrees fahrenheit. Like today, which is the day after Thanksgiving. So you see, sometimes in New York City the temps can wildly fluctuate sometimes.
You definitely need a coat, sweater, hat, scarf and gloves. You can always take the coat off if it gets a bit warm. The best exchange for UK currency? There are plenty of banks that offer. Try chase.com.

go to www.wunder.com and type in New York. You'll get the current weather and the forecast for the week.
As far as exchange rates, I would think that any large bank would offer about the same rate.
You could take a chance that the dollar will continue to slide. If you use a credit card, when it posts and the dollar to the Pound has lost ground, your purchase will be cheaper in Pounds. If it can work the other way around if the dollar goes up, but it looks likes the dollar is continuing downward. The Canadian dollar is nearly on par with the U.S. dollar and it used to always be around 75 cents to the U.S. dollar.

It's a tad brisk out there but bright and sunny...you might want to put on one of your woollens but no need for a brolly.
Regarding exchanging your money, your best exchange rate would be at a Manhattan bank. Those currency exchange booths at Times Square rob you blind! The banks ARE open today (Friday) so your best bet would be to find a Chase or Citibank.
