The Bible DOES fall short of reality. However, it doesn't promote an image that a life of faith is one free from trouble. In fact, some of the most faithful people in the bible suffered some really nasty things.

I fail to see where you are getting the idea that the Bible says a life of faith is one free of trouble.
In fact, the Bible says the exact opposite (John 15:18-27, and John 16:1-4.
Jesus makes it very clear that the world will scorn, mock, and revile you for your faith. But rather than let this upset or discourage you, you should rejoice in it.

No way! On the contrary. the Bible tells us that we will have trouble in this life. People will hate us for being a Christian.
This is discussed all through the gospels and in other books of the New Testament.
Nowhere in The Bible is it said that a life in faith is one free of trouble.
Where in the world did you get that idea?

No!! What Bible are you reading, friend? Because mine paints a picture of the Christian life as one that is full of trouble. Jesus said that people would hate us because they hate Him. He said that we would have struggles with our own sinful nature too. It ain't easy, and anyone who says otherwise isn't quite being honest with you.
The Bible does indicate, however, that God will bless the one who lives a life of faith. And when we go through life as a born-again believer in Christ, He will be right there with us through all our troubles and we won't have to rely on ourselves to see us through anymore. Are there still troubles and heartaches? You bet, but now we have Someone to go through it with us, and it makes a big difference.

i'm not too sure where you got that idea. it's the exact opposite. so many faithful people in the bible suffered through the hardest of times. every one of the apostles save st john were executed because of their faith. the message isn't that God will provide a smooth ride; it's that He'll provide a safe landing and strengthen you along the way.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say that a life of faith is free of trouble--Jesus told His disciples that "in the world you will have tribulation". Faith helps overcome trouble, that's how faith grows.

The Bible states that you must take up your cross daily if you are to be a follower of Christ. It also says they hated Him so they will also hate anyone who follows Him. It never painted a picture of a trouble free life, on the contrary, it cost everything to be a follower of Jesus. Most of the apostles were martyred save John and after much torture and attempted killings, he was finally banished to Patmos. There are no false pretenses in the Bible. The only thing that is promised about following Christ is that He will be with us always, giving us the peace and strength to persevere. The one's who do will inherit the kingdom of heaven.

No, because the bible also says faith without works is dead. If someone needs a job, they can believe that God will provide one, BUT they also need to go and put in applications.

As a Christian myself for over 37 yrs. i have not find anywhere that the bible says that having faith will be a bed of roses, We are to be tested & Tried, In fact anyone that claims that they don't have test & trials, they should really see if they really have God, Because if satan has you, then why would satan try to make your life misable, Being a Christain, does not make us happy every single mintue, because we will be tested. But in that test, we do have a comforter Called the Holy Ghost
