You can't register an international driving licence. DVLA do not recognise them. You will be able to drive on your actual driving licence for a 12 month period from date of entry into the country and depending on what country issued the licence you may need to apply for a UK provisional and sit a test to continue to drive after the 12 months. If the licence is from any EU country then you will be able to continue to drive on that licence after the 12 months. Call DVLA on 0870 240 0009 and speak to a dvla clerk to help you out.

You can use an international licence in London - you will find most insurers will accept this - however for business insurance (vehicle motor traders and the like) you may find a condition of the cover is that the licence is replaced within a year to a full UK licence

again, just check with the insurer and if in any doubt the DVLA

In reality, there is no such thing as a stand alone "international license" anywhere, despite the many web pages designed to separate you from your money.

All it is is a form that translates your valid license into several languages to make it easier for those in the country you visit to understand your status, and is carried with your valid license. It is not good in the country you get it in, so you should get it at home before you travel. Many countries do not recognize or require them, so check first to see if you will even need them.

See http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/alerts/driveralrt.shtm for some of the scams out there.

London England is part of the international community. Yes, just check with the local authorities and you should be fine.

Only if you have a full foreign licence and then only for 12months from the date you arrive here. They BOTH HAVE TO BE PRODUCED
