Last sunday I parked my car near two of the most attended chuches near my house. I'd say about 95% of those going to church were into and well past their 70s. I didn't see one young family going in. I stayed around for the next masses and it was the same again. Are old people just cramming for the final?

You don't go to my church obviously. Our youth group has 300-400 kids every week. Our children's church (up to 5th grade) has at least 400.

Sadly, people don't seem to care about the LORD God these days, maybe they have too many material possessions and very comfortable homes.

People don't look to the time when they themselves will be old and will say, is this all there is, what was life all about?'

The Bible is God's offer of salvation and forgiveness to mankind. But if people do not read it for themselves they are easily taught all sorts of things that might not be true.

I saw what I thought was a really good slogan on the side of a nonconformist church some years ago which said, ' Follow the maker's instructions'. Do you understand this?

Read the Bible first and don't give up at the hard bits. The more you read with an open mind, if you want to do God's will, the more you will understand.

Enjoy the Bible.

Not true! Watch BBC1 TV for "Songs of Praise" early next Sunday evening. People do tend to turn slightly to religion as they get older, they are more likely to have free time once the children have grown up, they have learnt that socialising is not just sitting in front of the TV all their waking hours. You mentioned masses, so you are probably RC. I go to RC and C of E churches and my experience is entirely different to yours.
Remember that the older people you see from your parked car were young themselves once, and possibly have a lifetime of church attendance. It's also possible that the "last Sunday" you mentioned was Remembrance Day and the older people attending were remembering family members who perished during the wars that have allowed us cherished freedom of speech.

I'd say that the older generation was brought up on the beliefs of the church where as young folk aren't ,Often families have other commitments on Sundays I for one work on a Sunday morning and my church only does the one service at 11.00 am on a Sunday. The other thing could be that it's a social occasion for them and they meet there friend and are not at home often alone for a couple of hours and they don't need to heat their house while they are out.

Maybe it's just the church that you're going to, the location and neighbourhood and everything. The church I go to easily has more younger people than elderly ones. I think it's because there is a few schools nearby so there is a greater concentration of children.
But yeah, the elderly do tend to be more religious than most, simply because they're closer to death and feel the need to confess and get everything settled before anything happens to them.

your loved ones is doing a disservice to you via forcing you to circulate to church AND forcing you to attend this church in case you do no longer connect with it. you're 20 and could be making your person judgements. i'm a Christian and can easily say i would not sense delicate in this church the two. Worshipping and spending time with God is a private experience that no you are able to rather dictate. basically Jesus recommended us in the thank you to need. commence displaying which you're grownup, circulate come across a church you sense delicate with. i'm hoping your mothers and fathers are overreacting this way out of worry you will walk removed from God. I advise you come across a infants group with human beings your person age. My city has some that meet on saturdays at 6pm, Tuesday nights, geared in direction of your age group.

What? Many churches around here are full of college aged kids and young adults with little children. How can you say this if all you did was go to ONE church. Was it Catholic?

There is no "final." Where did you hear this? It sounds as if you've gotten some misinformation.

These older people have probably done this all their lives so the fact they are older doesn't have anything to do with it. The point is they are truly devoted to worshipping God, not just in church but every day, the way a person is supposed to.

Young people today are more materialistic and into self and don't take time to worship God or devote their lives to God. They aren't into religion where they praise God, they are into religions where they are entertained by big bands and those who like to dance and scream from the stage. They don't study their Bibles to see that that isn't what God expected of us when we go to worship.

Don't let this deter you from going and worshipping. Go in and worship, then meet many of these people ~ you may learn alot through your contact with them :) Only you can follow the Bible and do what you can to try and save your soul before you die.

Do you know that all those old people were you yesterday? Those very old people used to say, All this god stuff is a load of cr.p now look at them. I guarantee that even if you don't go to church later then you will be saying prayers like you won't believe. When you are coming to the end of your life span and the only way to go is up or down then remember the question that you have just ask.

Because the young are so busy and not taught by parents to believe. They say the same things over and over that have no bearing on modern life. Also what kind of example are the vicars/priests when you hear of bad in the churches. The young are not fooled.

Well, people who are older had more of a reverence for spirituality than people today.
I know this is not the case in my church, but I do know that the older people in the church are revered as wise and in some ways better connected to God. This of course is not always the case, but this seems to be how people feel for the most part.
