My dogs are Lost what should I do.?

Alright yesterday I was at A thanksgiving pary with my cousins. And as soon as I come back they are gone and they've never been missing. It is two pitbulls, they are very friendly never been vicious for the last 3 years I had them, also I afriad they are going to get shot because I live like on an area were thier are farms. And one only has a tag and the other doesnt what should I do.

Leave them alone and the will come home, dragging their tails behind them. Wait, pit bull owners chop their tails off.

First - hopefully you have photos of the dogs. Make some posters and put them up on bulliten boards and perhaps pass them to neighbors. Be sure to provide some reward.

A notice int he local paper will not go amiss either. You also have to consider where the dogs might have gone. Where are they familiar with in your area. They need food and water and they will seek these out where it is easy to obtain.

Have you considered that they may have been stolen. You might ask your neighbors if they had seen any people with large cars or vans - vehicles that would provide space and rapid access, near or at your house.

Try to think like a dog. You know your dogs and pretty much know what they might to. That is your asset in the search. Report to police as well. Consider the stolen factor. How about animal shelters in your areaa. Leave notices with them as well.

In reality - communications are your best allies. Spread the word as fast, as far and in as many locations as you can imagine. That gives you many allies in your search.

1) check with any and all shelters within about a 25 mile area.
2) check with vets within the same area.
3) make up posters
4) put an ad in the local papers
5) Go door to door asking if anyone has seen them.
6) I don't like this one but in my area check with department of motor vehicle they pick up dead animals off the road and might remember picking up. I hope not but at least you would know.
Hope you find them and get tags for both or better get them chipped.

Cantact the local shelter and post flyers so neighbors you dont know will not be shocked by 2 pits in the area , let all your neighbors that you do know to watch for them , post on craiglist in lost and found also many people use and talk about it so its another way to get the word out , mostly spred the word they are friendly and do it FAST in this day and age people panic first think later which in there diffence is not always bad but important for you to let them know FRIENDLY FRIENDLY! Call local shelters/ animal control right away with a description, leave your phone number etc.

Get someone to make up posters and post them while someone else goes around to all neighbors with pictures of your dogs asking if they have seen them.

Check the shelters each and every day until you have them back. Many will only keep them for 48 hours if they are crowded.

Don;t only check local shelters. Dogs can travel a long way in all this time. Plus someone may have picked them up and taken them to a shelter along their way not necessarily the nearest one to you.

you should report your lost dogs , make signs, and tell family and friends to keep an eye out. Also tell to tell there friends not to shot them but where to find you if they get them.If you think they would stay together your in luck.

pit!! be carfull notify the RSPCA and set up flyer. call neighbers and warn local farmer not to shoot.

call the police and animal control to start looking for them!! make signs too!! gd luck and i'm sorry..i havee three dogs!! :) lol
