Yes a house can make you ill if it is or even if it isn't haunted. If a person cooked meth in the house the house is infected so-to-speak and it will make you very sick. Mold can cause a person to get sick or formaldehyde which is used in construction is also known for making people sick. If there has been recent remodeling in the house and they used dry wall from China which was recalled it can make you sick. There is no way to tell for sure with out a professional to come in and inspect the place even then I doubt you find out anything. Simplest solution is to find somewhere else to live.

If you have any gas appliances at all then simply call out the gas board and get them checked. It is unlikely to be carbon monoxide BUT it is always sensible to check. Get your boiler checked!!!!!! Carbon monoxide is known as the silent killer as you cannot see, feel or smell it. ACT NOW!
As another person stated it sounds more likely to be due to dam/mould type conditions. Is there damp in the house?
It sounds more like an allergy related thing.

All kinds of things can cause that, but what you need is an air purifier for the entire house. Please go on the website and it will tell you how to prep your home for allergy-sensitive people. There are filters for your air ducts, furnaces as well as windows, however, from your description, I think it's internal. Believe me dust does not give you burning sinuses, it's a chemical reaction (fiberglass insulation?), avoid using ammonia cleaners as well. There are household cleaners on this website which would be better at this point.
Good luck and please read.

Call your local environmental health department. Explain your concerns and they should visit free of charge and carry out a range of checks.
They can also refer you to other agencies who can carry out checks, such as your gas provider who will check your boiler for carbon monoxide fumes.
Just a thought...but did the previous owners have cats or dogs?
Also, have you checked that your vehicle is not leaking fumes from the exhaust into the car?

I would call your health department and ask them who should you contact for someone to come to your home and check for mold spores. That is not carbon monoxide, that is something in your house, carpets or vinyl flooring causing your symptoms.

Do you use Air Wick (or other) air fresheners - if you do - STOP.
These are known to cause illness, headaches, feeling sick in some people - some household air fresheners in spray form can also cause these signs - burn candles to remove the pollutant from the air.

You might want to have your house inspected for leaks and mold. I can see why you're suspicious of it.
