Gen 1:1
"In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.
A space appears next in bibles between verse 1 and verse 2, this space represents Satan's rebellion with 1/3rd of the angels
Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form and void;........"
correct translation:
was = became
without form = waste
So correctly translated as:
And the earth became waste.
God did not create it this way.
______________
So to answer your question
Jeremiah 4:23-31
God is speaking here
"And I beheld the earth, and lo, it was without form and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. (Gen 1:2 states this)
"I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
I beheld, and lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
I beheld, and lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the Lord, and by His fierce anger."
(This is describing the earth in the first earth age, as the earth is billions? of years old and yes, mountains, hills, birds, cities and angels (in another form) These things God shook and destroyed.
(So after Satan's rebellion, God shook His creation of the heaven and earth of Gen. 1:1 and it became waste of Gen 1:2)
"For thus hath the Lord said, "The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.
For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black; because I have spoken it, " I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it".
Then God re-created the earth to begin the second earth age Gen 1:3 - on (we live in) and told mankind created in Gen 1:27 male and female created together at the same time,
"Be fruitful and multiply, and RE-PLENISH the earth...."
Replenish = means to do again!, man in flesh body instead of a angelic body this 2nd time.
Also,
Isaiah 45:18-19 - the earth was formed to be inhabited - First earth age.
II Peter 3:5-6 First earth age, Gen 1:1
II Peter 3:7 Second earth age, Gen. 1:3-on that we live in today
II Peter 3:10-13 Third earth age to come when Christ returns to earth

Read genesis. Then read the origin of species (Darwin), or any of the new science books. Then compare. Remember that all religion scripts were written thousands of years ago, with the knowledge they had then.
