between the base, 2+2, and the twin turbo are they reliable and easy for the most part to work on. i was looking for the parts but most of the exhaust systems and other parts are meant for the TT models. i know they both use the same engine except for the twin turbos that i comes with. is it a good drag racing car. is the 2+2 longer than the TT and the base models.

It's definitely not the car you want to use for drag racing. Probably one of the greatest cars for drifting/drag racing is the 240SX. Nothing more you could ask for in terms of ease of mechanical workings, driving, modding, etc.

Parts cost alone will keep you off of the drag strip. Turbo Z cars are very hard to work on. Stick with something with a small block V-8 turn 11.0's in the 1/4 mile and be happy. 300zx is a 14/15 second 1/4 mile car. Nissan 3.0 liter GT touring car that weighs more than a mustang or firebird. Performance cars need frequent motor parts replacement and the Z car just removing the engine is an ordeal. Trust me!

I agree that this is not the best platform to use for drag racing. I would more reccomend the Mustang or Camaro, or even a Corvette for that mattter, simply because they're cheap to come by and extra power is very easy to make for not much money. You can also look into the Toyota Supra MKIV, that's the perfect platform for drag if you want to stay with an import, but I must warn you that they cost a pretty penny and parts for them are as expensive as any other high performance car! Good luck.

Seems that Hondas are the car of choice. You can modify them. If you pick the Nissan, you may as well just get a Honda. Imports cost more to repair, but at least Hondas have a good repair record. Don't waste your money on a Mustang, unless it is from the 60's or an F series truck.

It is not a great drag racing car.

The turbo'd engine has major internal and external differences.

The 2+2 is longer, and heavier.

How much money have you got to spend?

For drag racing, you can make a Camaro or Mustang go faster for less money. Strictly for drag racing, I'd go with a 1994-2004 Mustang because of its lighter wieght and lots of available parts.

Now if you want to go around corners fast, the ZX is the way to go. The ZX is a sports/GT car, not a drag racer.
