Every Christmas season I go through this anxiety. Rory, my beloved Great Dane, and Sampson, his beautiful black lab brother are very hard to get Christmas gifts for---because they already have every thing their hearts desire!! I cook them meals every night, play music for them, get them all the chew toes, dog bones, and contraptions they could ever wish for. Then every Christmas they look totally disinterested in all the proceedings. Any ideas??

You say your dogs have everything their hearts desire, cooked meals, music played for them, toys, bones and every contraption they could ever wish for! Have you ever thought that what they might really want is to be a dog! Perhaps they are not interested in the Xmas pressies is because what they would really like is a long walk where they can sniff, run, play and exercise their bodies and minds in the way these "working" dogs were bred to do.

My pressie for you dogs would be just this, 2hrs running in the woods followed by the rest of the day to sleep while the humans do that strange thing called Christmas. And then I would treat them to a new year where they learn a job which will continually stimulate their wonderful minds and bodies on a regular basis.

Give them a scratch behind the ears, or a pat of the head, some sweet words and a snuggle.

Why not donate to your local humane society in lieu of buying a gift for your pets, since they have all that they need?

get them a new brother? they would have someone to play with.
get them a cat-- look! new chew toy! ( I'm only kidding, I have cats and would not do that.)
Get them someone more people-ish, like a large rubber ball that they would push around the house, or try to put their front paws on... like something the size of a exercise ball. Walmart used to have these for like $15. Get one ball, so they could play together.
sounds like you really love your boys and take really good care of them. They aren't lacking for anything. That's great to hear, when the world is full of people who abuse and mistreat their pets. good luck.

All that dogs ever yearn for is their human parent's love and attention. Take your dogs to a safe park where they can run, play, sniff, and of course mark to their hearts' content -- all whilst spending quality time with YOU, whom they adore.

Take them to a doggie park and spend some quality time with them.

Its not about the money, buddy.

How about making a donation to a shelter in his name. If he has everything wouldn;t it be nice to give to those who have so little.
