I think it is great that you are thinking outside the traditional white wedding dress box. I love color in dresses.
I am in a wedding this spring and the bride is wearing this dress:

Hi and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Alternatives to white:

~ What color(s) do YOU like?
~ I know RED is popular especially in the UK.
~ Light pink or champagne color?

I wish I knew how to do a picture link to show you my daughter-in-laws dress. Anyway...it was very different...almost a "mocha"? color. It looked really nice on her and then she had chocolate brown bridesmaid dresses.

Good luck with your choice!

I am getting married in a tie dyed wedding dress. I have nothing againg white, I think it is great if that is what you want, but when I picture myself at the end of the aisle, I just cant see it in white. so.... close your eyes and buy the dress you see, but if it is something completely different be prepared for some raised eyebrows.

good luck

I am seeing wedding gowns starting to be offered in a light gold color, that on the person with the right coloring would be outstanding! For a May wedding you'd look so gorgeous in gold, with your bridal party in a bright 'warm' color, like turquoise, or emerald green (gee, perfect choice for May - emerald is the month's birthstone).

Good Luck!

What is your favorite color? Pastels are a great choice and the field is almost unlimited. I favor blue, lilac, peach, mint green, yellow, buttercream, If you want, pick a dark color, really anything goes. This is your wedding and your day and your decision. Congratulations to you and your future mate.

Friend of mine wore a mint / charteusse green halter-style dress. it was really elegant in an old-fashioned way. Oh & she had red hair in finger waves. lovely.

Oh & she bought it at a gown store on sale for $80 & they altered it to fit her size & everything! this was after finding a similar, white dress for almost $1,000 she saw the green & lights went up in her face. lol.

wear any color you want. "Tasteful?" - that's up to you. Lot;s here will push for off-white, cream, pastels, but you can wear red or black if you want. Have you seen OffBeat Bride? There's a whole ton of women there not wearing white or ivory. I think they have a whole group in the tribe that are in red. Check it out - http://offbeatbride.com/ it's a pretty kew place - lots of neat ideas too

ivory but I suppose you would consider that white lol. I have seen some dresses that are white with red trim that looked nice. Anything pale would probably look nice or light in color.

my example is the dress I'm buying you can get one in ivory or white and add color to it, as in beads or the hem of the dress, this is mine

http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=1210&prodgroup=10

if it's still showing the red, mine is pearl pink :-)

bottom line it's your wedding, your style, your choice on what you wear

Whatever color you love that is flattering on you. What is your favorite color?

Many people suggest ivory or gold, but those aren't flattering on people who are cool-toned since those are warm colors.
