If a group of people were shown a specific color and then asked to select that color from a set of related colors, it is safe to assume that different people will select different colors. What does this tell us about our memory and recollection of our color experiences?

Nothing! The question about the specific color had nothing in its statement "to select a color" to mean that that color specifically was to be selected from the set of "related" colors. About all it shows is that most people are not artistically inclined and tend to generalize colors.

Good luck with you students, good metal health, peace and Love!
