Ok - i have 8 minutes to change train so if the train was late i was hoping to know where to go quickly. I read somewhere it said it leaves from platform 4.

Nobody can give you an accurate answer as platform alterations can happen at any time.

It has always been from platform 4 when I have caught it. Platform 4 seems to be used for most of the longer-distance westbound trains. However, you will have to check when you get there as there's no guarantee it will be the same.
I wouldn't worry too much - there are only 4 platforms and the station isn't huge!

There is no way of knowing the platform you need before you travel as services can be subject to platform alteration at the last minute.
Allow plenty of time before you depart to check the departures board. There will also be announcements before the train arrives. If you are still unsure ask a member of the platform staff

There is an anouncment table in the station like in the airports. Look at that, and it will tell you all you want to know. Departure platforms often vary.
