Not only are the failing to do spread the correct message, they are actually corrupting the true message and keeping people from finding their own spiritual potential?

That they use fear retain power, and that individuals can find true spirituality only on their own personal expression of God?

Lives7 and others, please note. I did not say ALL religons, nor did I say all the time. And I'm not implying that all religons are bad, but the question begs to be asked.

With most folks unwilling to believe that what their church tells them is anything but Gospel and so many in need of getting direction it is difficult to explain that their church only tells you what they want you to hear! When belief in the words expressed from the pulpit is not checked out, verified, or questioned, who becomes the leader of a mass of people? The church has always forced their will onto the poor, the uneducated, those that are most in need of help and assistance. Today folks are just so frazzled, busy, and into what best fits their needs that they make the appearance of 'Being Christian', they go to church on Saturday or Wednesday, or maybe the Sabbath (Sunday) and they put their $10 or $20 into the collection plate but they already are already busy with what their plans are for the coming week.

The church does not really care what you do outside of church other than to donate more and more to what causes they deem important. The church will preach the Hell and brim stone, salvation, but also give money for this and that and don't forget to give more than you gave last time because we just don't have enough to send our young people on a mission to save people that already have their own God, but as it is not our God they are unchristian.

Churches need to be held to the highest standards as listed in the Bible not what the preacher, minister, Rabi, or whatever other titles the leader of the church decides they want.

Being a Christian (and a new one at that) I found God on my own, the only influence from others being a couple of my friends telling me what their faith mean't to them.

both sides of my family are or were heavily Catholic in some way, but religion was never placed on any of us kids growing up. I'm now 24 and about a year ago I made my own mind up to look into Christianity as a choice.

I do not know of any other messages about Gd or doctrines other than what I have formulated myself.
I don't really go to church. I would ask open advice of a Priest, but I'm sure God knows that I'm a good enough man not to need to go to Church.
Besides, I wince whenever I see the street preachers harping on. Real Faith should be left to be found by those who look for it, instead of placed upon by those who don't.

Traditional religion, unlike science, does not grow and develop with the changing times very well. It is like a lot of organizations that have been arround for a long time. They are stuck with outdated rules, and tend to defend the status quo. They could be so much better. They could be open to the best in spiritual ideas and training techniques, from all sources even very recent ones and individuals. They could also do research into spiritual phenomenon using dreams and hypnotism. They could really focus on morality, and solving serious problems in this world.

Nice propaganda, but seriously investigate the amount of time, treasure, and talent that "organized religion" spends on the poorest of the poor in our world.

Government contributions, private donations pale in comparison!

Worshiping our own spirituality and personal expression of a god is simply selfishness run amok! Christianity has never been about loving self above all others, but to lay down ones life for another.

Best modern example I can give are the New York firefighters who died sacrificing their lives for the strangers in the World Trade Center buildings. These martyred men knew that their lives where in danger, yet out of love and a sense of duty they paid freely with living bodies for the sake of the larger world community.

This is EXACTLY what Jesus the Christ taught on the cross.
Evil did not win the day, but Christian Love.

The Moral Authority of organized religion was emphatically powerfully taught, expressed, and enacted by these members of organized religion. This is only one small example of organized religion impact and influence in our troubled world.

Katrina? Seriously? You've got to be kidding me. Being financially bankrupt has NOTHING to do with morals, as even the poor can be righteous. Moral authority does not belong to any goverment or nation. Our own founding fathers admitted that. The laws of nature and Nature's God are the moral authoirty.

Organized religions are composed of people. All people are sinners and their organizations reflect that. Look at any govt. Religions are the same. But we are still all governed. We should all join a church of our faith and be active in it. We also need to read the Bible (or whatever holy book your religion accepts) and read it, know it and pray often for guidance.

yes i totally agree!!! i dont need a cult to tell me that I'm a morally good person only when i eat certain things, wear certain clothes, marry whoever was chosen for me,etc etc etc

being good for me means that i dont harm anybody in any way and that i help people as long as i can. if people want to believe in a God then that's cool, but being good and prayers should do the job. anything else is blackmail in my opinion and that has got nothing to do with morals

I think it depends on the organization. There are some that I think are spreading a good message, but whether it's "correct" or not is a matter of debate.

Organized religions have no moral authority, They only preach that you have to sit in their synagogue and pay money and don't think for yourself --the preacher will hear from God amd tell you what He wants you to do That is pure bull ****
I have a Bible which is the living word of God and it teaches me all I need to know--and that is why God left it for us.If we would read the Holy Bible and let the Holy Spirit lead us He will teach us. It says "I have no need that man teach me anything because the Spirit will teach me all things"

not all. but here in the Philippines we have this EL shaddai. its so non-catholic. for those who are in love with money. but there are some that actually help. in el shaddai, they have handkerchiefs and someone tells them to wave it in the air if they really want a visa of some money. really, i couldn't believe it at first that it was Catholic.
i heard that there was a black rosary?
one to the devil?
but really, if you Americans really want power and munny, pray to the Lord. not to the devil. you really hurt people of showing how blinded you are nowadays. and to the Rosary, show some respect. R-E-S-P-E-C-T-- RESPECT!
take care!
