OK. here's the story of my life, I'm going to study in monash university in melbourne, Australia. I'll graduate with a double degree, bachelor of law/bachelore of criminology and criminal justice. I'm planning to move to the US to work with the FBI as a special agent in the criminal investigation field. I know that I should have a working experience (three years) in what I studied (law). My questions are....

1)- Do I need to have an experience in criminal investigation?
2)- Can I apply as an intern to gain the experience then move to the real work?
3)- Do I need to join the FBI Academy first then apply for a job or applying then they are going to join me to the academy?

[ If my english is weak, forgive me. I'm not a native speaker :D ]

If you want to be an agent then your experience needs to be in criminal investigation or law enforcement of some type. If you can work as a corrections officer or police officer or us military (4 yr) commitment. You have to apply to be an agent, if you are accepted then they automatically send you to the acadamy. Your english reads fine. It does not really matter what your degree is in but the bachelors of law will help. Most agents they take have a masters degree, and the more languages you speak the better especially if you know a middle eastern dialect.

first you have to be a citizen to join fbi. or the american fbi. there are other international orgs that will allow foreigners.
to apply for the academy you have to be in law enforcement with the education. yes a background in law is very helpful.
the academy is like a specialty training college of its own. not only educational but physical and self defense and weapons trraining. a military police background would give you alotta experience.
