From personal experience you really need to see your doctor to have the problem diagnosed properly. Lower back pain can be due to a variety of conditions and just two of them are kidney problems or a muscular skeletal disorder. Both of these conditions will effect your posture. Until you see your Doctor to ease the pain try taking painkillers like Paracetamol. Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory and may help if it is a muscular problem. However, do see your Doctor as soon as you can. If it is a muscular problem your doctor will usually prescribe pain killers and anti inflammatory medication. However, a chiropractor will sort this kind of problem for you. Although the first visit will relieve the pain it will enable you to stand more naturally. It will take a few visits to 'cure' it though. As I have had both of the above problems I know what you are going through and you have may sympathy. That is how I handled both situations. Applications of alternating hot and cold (not ice) towels across the back for ten minutes each are said to help but I haven't been brave enough to try this. Good luck. I hope you are soon pain free,

Here is a good exercise to do when you are on bed rest. Lie on your stomach and prop yourself up by your elbows. Slowly and gently push up so that your hips remain on the floor and your stomach and chest are lifted up. Do this as far as you can without overextending yourself. After this, roll onto your back and insert a rolled up towel under your lower back.

If you perform this exercise for three or four days and find no relief it may be because your pain is not centered in your lower back. If you feel the pain more to one side than the other you can modify this exercise. The way you do this is to go ahead and lie down. Then shift your hips away from the side with the pain. Then go ahead with the exercise as described in the above.

You need to strengthen your abdoman, Your body acts on the opposite side of your body. Right side to left, front to back. So if you do some sit ups , crunches, this will help your stomach muscles which help your back. If you are having knee problems, you need to strengthen your thigh muscles. I have the same problems, and right now I'm just sitting around not exercising, so I like you need to do some of these.

Hi

I sometime suffer with back pain and i use one of thiose wheat bags you can get, they are long and got wheat beeds in the,. You just stick it in the microwave for about 1 1/2 mins and then rest it between your back and the back of the chair you are sat on.
This brings great relief, and its not expensive.
