Probably because they have not succumbed to the modern day evangelical trend of focusing on God's love and how He has a plan for every believers life to the exclusion of what happens to people who don't turn from their sins and trust in Jesus for their salvation.
Jesus didn't preach only half this message.
ESV John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been carried out in God."
Matthew 25:31 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left.
34 Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.'
37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?'
40 And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'
41 "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.'
44 Then they also will answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?'
45 Then he will answer them, saying, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.' 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

Modern Fundamentalism began as a movement of conservative U.S. Christians back in the 1920's. At that time there were theological colleges springing up which took a less literal view of the Bible. Fundamentalists called these other Christian believers 'modernists' and really made a stand for the 'old time religion'.
Part of the fundamentalist mindset can be a suspicion or hostility towards 'modern' or 'watered down' doctrines. As such they trust the old KJV of 1611 as the one true Bible for English -speaking believers. Modern versions are seen as 'evil' or 'erroneous' translations.
Belief in Hell Fire etc goes along with the view that 'modern' Bible translations or 'modern' allegorical interpretations of Scripture are a serious departure from original Christian beliefs.

I don't think there is such a thing as KJV1611 fundamentalist. I read this version but I know there are mistranslations. If you are going to think about it, all the translations in existence - none represent 100% of the real original Bible.
Have you heard of the Apocrypha? There are other books that were removed.
These translations are mere words but that is why we need to be guided when we read the holy writ. Mere reading will do nothing to you. The truth is product of words pondered, understood and revealed to you as true by the holy spirit.

I was raised that, though not it now. Seems they take the bible as literal as they can and fervently believe that any day will be THE DAY. As a child it frightened me, as a young adult it confused, and now to me it is an example of what happens when you let your mind get hammered closed. How can you preach a religion of love and kindness using fear ?.

king james (as in king james authorised version) was a real politician with a real political agenda.
according to the thinking of the day he was also god's representative on earth (something users of the kjv still believe).
supposing that there were a 'george w. bush authorised version' of the bible, and that there was a church which taught that george w. bush had been directly appointed by god.
what sort of people do you expect would use it?

Have you even seen a KJB from 1611? I haven't. The KJB that is in use today was last revised in the 19th century.
