There are plenty of people there who like to practise their English, but perhaps it would be a good thing to prefix your question with something polite in French and an apology for using English. I have a suspicion that the people who are hypersensitive about these things on the French page are not the French at all, but their trans-Atlantic cousins.

check the rules - if they say it has to be in French, then do so. if not, then if you know French, use as much as you can. you can always write half in French and half in English (just not in the same sentence!). besides, depending on the kind of people in the forum (like French students learning English), they might appreciate the extra practice.

It may cause an international incident, so I say go for it! Actually, it is probably against yahoo answers policy. Did you try to post to French speakers in the English forum?. If you still want to try to get an answer, keep is simple so that English speakers may understand and answer you.

I'm French so if you want me to translate the question into French just let me know...and then you'll be able to ask it in the French fourm without upsetting any of my fellow citizens!

It's against Yahoo policy; you're supposed to post in the language of the forum.

Not really but it would be better/nicer if you write in English then write the French translation as well. =)
