I am assuming your British. I suppose you folks could militarily seize it to liberate the poor citizens from their oppressive government. That excuse works for us fairly well in the states. Just curious but why do you want the place? I mean its a pretty spot and all but its on the other side of the planet unless your Australian and in that case you never actually owned it and you have a much nicer spot and less crowded place already.

Sabah, as mentioned above was historically part of the Philippines. However, I believe that we can no longer have a claim over Sabah because there was referendum made in Sabah, more than three decades ago, on whether they wanted to be part of the Philippines or Malaysia. The Sabah residents voted in favor of Malaysia.
Personally, we must not pursue Sabah Claim anymore. This is for the sake of amity and comity with our close neighbor Malaysia. With the integration of ASEAN, I think we can forge all resources for the benefit of the Region. By the way, Brunei, Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia, on top of being active ASEAN members are one strong group in the International community.

Sabah by historic right belongs to the Philippines but due to occupation of the British it was included to Malaysia. Thus, the Philippines could file a claim over Sabah in the International Court of Justice.
