If you believe men are eternal spirit beings with an eternal destiny, then to trifle with their souls and endanger them by your sin, rebellion, and unbelief, is a crime beyond all telling.
Jesus Christ said you were either with Him or you are against Him.
If you oppose the work of God in sending His Son to die for the sins of the world so they can receive the gift of eternal life and thereby escape eternal destruction; how can you say that punishment in hell would be too harsh a thing?
God in His goodness is far beyond your ability to imagine; but in His wrath, He is far more terrible than your worst nightmare.

Hi. It sounds as though you have an anxiety disorder and this is the worst thing your mind can come up with to torment you with. A practical way to solve this problem would be to read a book which deals with this. As an atheist from a Christian background who had trouble ridding myself of the last of my superstitious fears, I found The God Delusion very helpful. By the time I finished it all of my fears had been brought out, dissected and proved groundless. Even though you know intellectually that a loving god and Hell cannot co-exist, your fears are lurking in the background connected to your cultural influences and bringing them out, examining them and dealing with them will help. You may then find, however, that you become anxious about something else so it would be wise to recognise that anxiety is an issue for you and take some natural steps to reducing it - these could include reducing caffeine and refined sugar, taking more aerobic exercise (anything which speeds up your breathing will produce more of the calming endorphins) writing a diary in which you address your anxieties in a practical way (much of the problem will be worries going round and round and a diary helps get them out and stop them doing that) and making sure you get enough sleep and do not put unnecessary pressure on yourself. If you find this does not help or you begin to have intrusive thoughts which affect your quality of life or you begin performing any rituals to calm yourself (worst case scenario) go to the doctor because anti-depressants also work on anxiety or some cognitive behavioural therapy might give you some tips on dealing with this.

well here it is all laid out as best as I can. God never intended to send us to hell. When God created hell he created it Punish Satan for his rebellion. Now I am sure you are asking how could he condemn us all from one little mistake. well he created the fruit so that we would have a choice and it would not be "robot" love. now this Idea I am setting up is still pretty new to me so it might not make sense. So since God is life not choosing him is choosing death. So when Adam and Eve chose to eat of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, not an apple, they chose death and experienced a spiritual death. well just like in any form of reality something that is dead can not bring about life. So all humanity was spiritually dead. So he gave us ways until Jesus to have life. Well since we had that then Jesus we could receive life and receive it to the full if only we ask. this is not some mandatory thing that all must do, but it is something done out of love. Just like in the garden all god wanted is our love. So since he is life and we are dead he can not be with us. so he gave us the way. It is out there and available for ever one. all you do as ask and you will receive. some people will try and down play it with oh I did not have that many chances or life is so short. well truth be told you had a chance from every moment onward from when you first found out about it. life maybe short on the grand scheme of time, but for us humans there is more the over ample time( exaggeration added for effect). I can not say what will happen to those who have never heard the gospel. I am sure God has a plan for them. So it is not that he wants people to go to hell. In fact he wants all his children there with him, but there is law and consequence. I think that that right there might be the sub conscience issue. Is that you don't want to live up to the consequence of what you have done. That is a major issue I see in this world we live in. No one can ever admit they are wrong, it was alway something else that caused it. Just like when you were a kid when you did something wrong you got in trouble, only this is you start after a certain age in trouble and you have the rest of your life to make it right so you don't spend the rest of you eternity in punishment, that was not meant for you.

I'm not a Hell-fearing Christian, but I do believe in an eternal Hell. I also believe in Heaven, a loving God, Jesus Christ as the Redeemer, the Holy Spirit, Immaculate Mary, the Apostles, Saints, Angels & Archangels, Guardian Angels, and even Satan (known as Lucifer, a fallen Archangel).
You seem to put the choice of going to Heaven or Hell in God's hands, which is incorrect. We are the ones who make that choice in how we live our life. God doesn't sentence you to Hell like a judge in court would send a prisoner to jail, you condemn yourself through your actions (or inactions as the case may be).
Yes, we can make bad choices, but we can be forgiven. You must also learn from your mistakes and do your best to not sin, if you want to remain free from the snares of the devil and suffering in an eternal Hell.

Well you have an interesting point there. But I will say that the bible makes it very clear that you have a will/choice. Hell was created for satan and his angels. You need to understand that God did not create hell for you, even when you make bad choices God is ready and willing to forgive you if you repent and come to Him in total submission.
In a nutshell man must get rid of pride and humble himself before a loving and just God.
The thing is that we cannot live forever so we must spend eternity somewhere - and that's the choice we have to make while on earth.

ok in the old testament yes if someone diobeyed GOD he took the out- he killed them but if you look at all that is going on today , crime, murder, people killing thier kids and spouses why aren't they all killed by GOD? God gave his only son-JESUS on the cross to pay for our sins and give us eternal life he even gives you a handbook (BIBLE) telling you what you need to do to go to heaven or hell he leaves that part up to you. Jesus came to offer us that chance. FORGIVENESS thru repentance he does not force this on you he gives you a choice so you accept him or you don't. I am a christian and yes i make bad decisions and bad choices heck i have been married 5 times and the books of MATTHEW and MARK say you are not supposed to marry but once unless your spouse dies then you are free to remarry, but I have been forgiven for that and all my other mistakes because I ask for forgiveness. There is NO perfect people, and Jesus came to offer you a way to still get into heaven because u are NOT perfect. AS far as hell well GOD made hell for the people that think they are beyond his authority and those who deny his love.

First of all I do not fear hell- and second of all- instead of only talking about the just side of God, because we all desire hell, why not look His love. An all-loving God made a way for us to escape hell- Jesus died on the cross for our salvation. He paid the price that we could never pay. If God was cruel, would He have made a way for us to be saved? Look at that side for awhile and you may change your mind- because no matter what we all have to make choices. I did-

It is always about choice - we choose where we go! The fact that God is a loving God is demonstrated in His sending His only begotten Son, Jesus, down to earth 2000+ years ago to die for us (John 3 v 16) in order to make a way for us to escape from having to spent an eternity in hell!
God is not cruel - He is just, fair and compassionate. Every one of us are given the same opportunity to accept Jesus a spersonal Lord and Savior. God is willing to accept us right where we are - together with our sins and shortcomings. He did not set so high a standard that only those super spiritual ones could be saved but "all who call on the name of Jesus - They shall be saved!".
You need to make your decision! and then be willing to accept the consequences of that decision. You hold the key to where your final destination is, so think carefully before you decide! Ball is in your court!

I have a distinct feeling that there is nothing anybody can truly say to change your mind. I have a feeling you are just saying this to make a point, not actually ask a question.
But in case you are not, I ask you this. Why is it that if a parent punishes their child for say lying, they are not called cruel? And no I don't mean parents that beat their children or truly are cruel. But just general punishment.
Or how about this, if somebody murders somebody, most people don't argue with, and in fact encourage the person to go to prision for the rest of their life. So why can we as humans do this? But God cannot?
As for going to hell, you won't just go to hell for being a sinner. God knows we are sinners. What will get you to hell is to continously sin, and do nothing to change it. Like keep doing the exact same thing, say constiantly lying, and see nothing wrong with it. God hates the sin, not the sinner. And like I said he knows we are going to do bad things. What he expects of us though, when we do sin, is to ask for forgivness, and try our best not to do the same thing over and over again.
Think about it this way. If you had a friend that did something wrong, then they apoligized you'd probably forgive them and at least eventually, stop being mad. But if they kept doing mean things, especially the same thing over and over, you would probably write them off and not be friends with them anymore correct? Then why can't God do that?

Why should a Christian fear hell? Shouldn't the unsaved fear it, since they are in danger of it?
You obviously underestimate sin. You used the phrase "manifested in such a short period of time". Do you realize that time is only relevant to our created world? When we die we pass out of this world and into eternity where there is no time, and every sin we've ever committed is fixed to us like a permanent stain. God will require a just and equally permanent punishment. He must punish evil, otherwise he is corrupt. So he did the only thing he could do, which is stand in our place and take our rightful punishment onto himself so that we could go free. Each person makes his or her choice. If you choose to reject your only salvation, that's just tough cookies. Either Jesus pays your debt or you do. So the issue isn't whether or not God is cruel, the issue is whether or not you are going to be cruel to yourself.
