Just bought one of these and have set it all up as per the manual but sometimes when we change the channel over the screen goes blank and then comes back with a different sized screen. We try and have it set on 16:9 but it just sets itself to a smaller screen. Even when we change it back for some reason after an advert break it resets to the smaller size again. It's weird! Are we doing something wrong? Have tried to consult the manual but can't seem to find it in there.

Yes angler, I do mean we have to press the zoom or p.size button to set it back. Is it a design fault or are we thick?!

Maybe your setting are on auto for the screen size

If you want *everything* at 16:9 then you'll end up watching lots of short wide people for many programmes :-)

Do you have a Freeview box? If you do, have you been through *its* setup to output to a 16:9 telly?

Bottom line: a lot of stuff is still transmitted at 4:3 and the electronics realises this and should adjust automatically.

Unfortunately, all Goodmans products are classed under the 'cheap and nasty' category.

If you had spent say, a couple of hundred pounds more on a Sony, Toshiba or Panasonic, you wouldn't have this sort of problem.

Sorry, but that's the harsh truth. Always remember, "Buy cheap, buy twice".

Plasmas, generally speaking, have greater advantageous photos. Burn-in, toughness and skill intake extremely are not a controversy. the only time i could propose an liquid crystal show over a plasma is that in case you would be gazing your television in a vivid room.

Pity you decided on that make.
I & many others had trouble with their freeview boxes over the years & found you could not contact them or get any help.
We all had to bin them.
Do hope you have better luck.
Check it out. Can you get through to the maker?
If you see what I mean, try to get the set changed while it`s new. You have grounds to get rid of it.
