Do you think their mocking of different religions and cultures is offensive? Funny to an extent? What do you think?

And Ned Flanders. What do you think of Ned Flanders? The overly religious (Protestant I believe, but certainly a form of Christian) left handed character with the glasses.

Personally I would rather watch a dog throw up in the middle of my living room than watch "The Simpsons"

Ned flanders is a parody of a typical Christian. I love the episode where he finally explodes because he's been denying himself a normal life with everyone else.

I dont find it offensive, if you cant laugh at yourself then I will.
Really, humor.

I personally love the Simpsons...in fact, I was just contemplating watching it! Ned Flanders is a combination of all of the different Christians out there that do not realize that God has a sense of humor himself!

We are all deeply flawed people, and the Simpsons is a wonderful mirror on life. Flanders tries so hard to be religious, but misses out on being spiritual.

i would consider myself to be quite religious, and i like the simpsons, though i don't get to watch the show very often anymore, since i work during the evenings. i don't think they go over the top with any of their cultural/ religious depictions at all. ned cracks me up. i'm not in any way offended by his corny character. what makes it even funnier to me is the fact that my mother has a cousin EXACTLY like ned flanders. he teaches... entomology? (i'm probably wrong with my terms. i can't remember what the study of insects is called at the moment) at the university of oklahoma. he's a devout christian and a total nerd. we call him doug the bug man. he even LOOKS like ned flanders.

I love the Simpsons (although the writing has slipped quite a bit lately and with the movie as well). Ned is often sympathetic (far more so than Homer) and I think they try to be fair mostly. I loved when Homer didn't go to church and God came with him to watch Football.

it is just a cartoon that sometimes show us the reality (and teach us not to look everything is offensive)...how 'normal' are the simpsons live. and how strange they see flanders as a good christian (pity, but it is as in reality too).

i think above all, marge--the wife, is the best of all. if u want to get some positive meanings from this film, just see on marge's view.

Both offensive and funny. I usually don't watch the show, but I used to. I don't feel that the writers cross any lines portraying Ned Flanders as the stereotypical Christian. In the movie they portrayed him rather well I thought.

Both and Ned Flanders isn't a totally bad roll model.

I'm Jewish and I'm not offended by "Krusty the Clown" (Herschl Krustovski) character, so why Ned Flanders would be offensive to bible-thumping Jesus-clappers is beyond me....

The Simpsons used to be funny and its not anymore. I thought the way they presented Homer doubting religion intelligently was really good until they decided he should just be a moron about it all.
