I mean, why not? Would that be cool or what? It would complement and fill the gap between the truck and cup series. It would be a complete marketing circle for the car makers currently in Nascar plus it might force Toyota to build a V8 rear wheel drive Supra!

So give me a constructive answer on what you think.

It's been a rumor read on Jayski.com. One point Nascar made was how long would those body styles be around in the future considering the Mustang is the only one that never went away.
However, I think they will be around long enough to be worth it for them to do it. Plus people have really been pushing to seperate the Nationwide Series from the Sprint Cup series either by changing the car's or by allowing comitted season Cup drivers to compete but not giving them any points since it's become a Cup drivers easy pickin's.

Both idea's are good and would be good for everyone involved including the fans!

So tell me what you think.................

I like the idea of NASCAR running "pony cars" better than them running the COT in the Nationwide series. One of the reasons why the were considering this was not only to set the National series apart from the cup series, but alse because IF they were to run pony cars, they could do so on the current chassis which would give NASCAR teams something to do with their old cars when they make the permanent switch to the COT in the Nextel Cup Series.

While this is a good idea, I personally would rather see NASCAR completely drop both the current chassis, and the COT and revert to a real stock car; which is another idea that was thrown out there. With the constant rules changes and the "watering down" of the spirit of racing that has been going on in the cup series over the past few years, NASCAR has actually begun to decline in popularity. This is a perfect opportunity for the National series to shine.

While reverting to a true stock car would allow the national series to retain the true NASCAR fans that the cup series has begun to lose, racing pony cars MAY do the same thing and bring in new fans from other motorsports. Either way, this is the time when the NASCAR Nationwide Series needs to do something different and set itself apart from being the cup series "little brother".

I think it would be a great idea for the new Nationwide series. They need something to bolster attendance and interest in the series... Especially if NASCAR curbs the cup drivers from active participation. Right now, if it wasn't for cup drivers proliferating the series, the attendance might only be half as much as it has been the past couple of years. Or worse.

As for custom made cars that the manufacturers can enter, (aside from Camaro or Mustang), I still remember the 2 door Taurus cup car... Something that Ford never built or released! :)

By all means there needs to be a body style just for the NATIONWIDE series.
While at it limit the size tracks for them to run on and the number of events a cup driver can run in a year.

Might not happen with the actual companies cause they wouldn't be able to see any pure profitable income from making seperate ones.

It'll mainly attract the people that like those chasis than a wide based fanbase as a whole.

Toyota have a rear wheel drive sports cars already... MR2.. i have one -.-

Sounds like a pipe dream to me. If toyota built a rear wheel drive Supra it would probably toast any American made car on the streets, and I don't think the American public could handle that. It's fun to dream, but I don't think the evolution is going to take a turn in that direction.

Only if they scrap the C.O.T !!! Nationwide is the only thing that look's like a racecar now-day's !!! And I don't think a Camaro is gonna hang with a Mustang !!!
France is trying trying to make the Cupcar's more like F-1 before he sell's-out to the European's !!! Why,he would wan't to do that... I don't know ???
