Thank you for the 2nd part. Here is the rest: Mat 16:13 And coming into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, Jesus asked His disciples, saying, Who do men say Me to be, the Son of Man?
Mat 16:14 And they said, Some say, John the Baptist; some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
Mat 16:15 He said to them, But who do you say I am?
Mat 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Mat 16:17 Jesus answered and said to him, You are blessed, Simon, son of Jonah, for flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but My Father in Heaven.
Mat 16:18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Mat 16:19 And I will give the keys of the kingdom of Heaven to you. And whatever you may bind on earth shall occur, having been bound in Heaven, and whatever you may loose on earth shall occur, having been loosed in Heaven.

He was not making Peter the boss. He was rather giving him the means to spread the Gospel. The keys to getting into heaven are to Love, Respect, Honour and Obey God. Everything we need to know is in the Bible. Nowhere in scripture does it state that anyone other than Christ is the head of the church.

Are you Gay? Gay man.
If so, then how does that figure in your covenant with God? I am not condemning or judging you, rather i am suggesting that you go and read the Torah and see what God says about homosexuality.

Q: Who decided that the pope is the head of the church?
A: That would be the Roman emperor Constantine in the 4th century. He created Roman Catholicism, and established the order of power within the church.

No.But i think the questioner has.
Jesus gave Peter a new name Cephas, which means ROCK.
Peter was the first Pope. You are Peter ,and upon this rock i will build my church, and i will give to you the keys of the kingdom of Heaven ,The Pope is Christ's representative on Earth. He has the authority to change Dogma with God's approval. Peter IS the rock, God is referring to.The Catholic Bible is the one true universal reference Bible. All other Bibles are amended and falsified to suit themselves.

Catholics agree that Christ is the head of the Church, the total Church. The Pope is only the head of the "Church Militant" -- i.e., the people living on earth who are still in the battle of flesh vs. spirit.
There is also the "Church Suffering" and the "Church Triumphant." All three together make up the universal, eternal Church, of which Christ is the head.

Its in their bible if you bother to look through it.
The proof that Christ constituted St. Peter head of His Church is found in the two famous Petrine texts, Matthew 16:17-19, and John 21:15-17.

It's based on this:
Matthew 16
[18] And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
[19] And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
[20] Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

Jesus Christ.
John 21:15-17 states:
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."
He then said to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep."
He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." (Jesus) said to him, "Feed my sheep.
Matthew 16:17-19 states:
Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
The Catholic Church believes the Lord made Simon alone, whom he named Peter, the "rock" of his Church. He gave him the keys of his Church and instituted him shepherd of the whole flock.
The Pope is the senior pastor of 1.1 billion Catholics, the direct successor of Simon Peter.
The Pope’s main roles include teaching, sanctifying, and governing.

With love in Christ.

I'm Jewish, so I believe that the messiah has yet to appear and that G-d is the head of the Universe. G-d has no church. We have a covenant with G-d. Christians have a 'covenant' with a "Holy Spirit" that is not of G-d.

peter was not left in charge folks.. look in acts who was the leaderof the early church?? it was james the brother of jesus who was the head?? peter in galations chapter 5 was wishy washy in his beliefs and had to be rebuked and what this means is.. to be showed his errors .. peter sepperated himself from eating and fellow shipping with gentiles becuse of what others including james might think of him.. PAUL HAD TO SHOW this was being a hypocrit . or this would of hindered the growth of the church showing partiality becauseof race creed or origin is wrong peter accepted this and grew from it ... the rock or the statement peter remarked to was who JESUS was ,, peter remarked he was the son of the LIVING GOD. JESUS said yes and my father has showed this to u peter and upon this truth ON WHAT?? THAT HE JESUS WAS THE CHRIST on HIM alone would the church be built upon not man . peter was married too and catholic PRIESTS AND THE POPE are not allowed to marry.. . is this biblical then?? no.. is it man made then?? yes !
what doe the bible say then about man made rules then in mathew chap 15 v 9 and on??. is the church supposed to make up rules that are not biblically sound?? would they be following christ then??
in johns gospel ch 8 Jesus said that their father was not abraham but satan was their father .. would JESUS CHURCH kill millions of folks just because they wanted to follow what HE HIMSELF, instituted and not traditions weather they be oral or written?? . all throughout mans history u have had two sides taken those that obeyed God and those who folowed their own path. or better yet the path that satan himself directs//
/AM I BEING toooo direct here?? believers themselves whatever church they attend , are accepted JESUS ONLY CRY is that they come out of their and follow the truth dont be partakers in those churches that teach falsely dont be partakers of their sin. / when a young person hangs out with those that do wrong are they not scolded that evil company will corrupt them too yes or no??
DOES JESUS as GOD HAVE THE right to tell HIS followers they have to worship in SPIRIT and the truth then just as HE DID TO THE SAMARATIN woman at the well?? look at that chapter in john 4 closely,, / john sent letters to all the churches in asia .. paul set up churches after he taught them how to follow truth .. is following truth important ??,., can what u believe be sincere and yet still wrong biblically?? saul persecuted the early christian chiurch followers of the way,, he was zealous about his faith and went about in every city to have them arrested and many were murdered by his ok!! he was doing so in ignorance nonetheless hundreds were put to death becuase of it. and its something that was always on his mind .!!. u see u can be zealous!, in what you believe is truth!, and still be doing so in ignoranace just like saul was before his conversion. sorry if i was long winded here! mj
