Tin Can Sailor <-- I mean part boiled potatoes placed into the oven in a tray of hot oil to finish the cooking process and to leave a crunchy outside.

Probably, but I bet they don't know how to make them as nice as we do!!
Par boil them in salted water and drain. Make sure you shake them about in the colander to rough up the edges for crisper spuds. Roast in hot vegetable oil in a very hot oven for 45 minutes. Mmmmm, you can't beat 'em!

I've visited various parts of the US over the years and never seen a roast potato. We do house exchanges and have lived all over, but I think roast potatoes are something cooked at home - as opposed to restaurant food. You start by peeling the potatoes - and I get the impression they don't cook like that in the US any more.

I think the earlier answerer who said "cooked in an oven" meant baked, or jacket potatoes

They don't. They think they do, and will argue the point, but I have cooked roast potatoes in the US a few times now and none of the Americans I know have had them before. They can't understand that 'roast potatoes' are a thing, they think all potatoes cooked in the oven are roasties, which we all know they are not!

Normally i would just say fruit, but i think both. I enjoy the sweet taste of the fruits but i love the piquancy and kick the vegetables bring
