The pope is a man that heads one of the largest cults in the world, and only if you want to be submissive for the rest of your life should you become catholic.

Yes, the Pope is a man of God just like millions of other Christians in the world.

Only you can answer the second part of the question. You have to discern what is God's plan for your life.

If you are interested in joining or just learning more about the Catholic Church, contact your local parish and ask about information about their RCIA Inquiry group.

You can go and ask any questions you want.

This is the first step in RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) but you can stop at any time.

There is no obligation to become a Catholic.

With love and prayers in Christ.

Catholics believe that just as Peter was given authority over the disciples of Christ in the infant church, the pope today is given that authority. Jesus said, "Thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven that whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Clearly he was giving Peter some kind of power over the disciples and the church. Peter passed that authority and power on to the next pope and he to the next etc. in an unbroken line of popes from that day to this. You may Google "papal lineage" to see the list from Peter to Pope Benedict IVI.
The pope is a good person dedicated to teaching and proclaiming God's word to the world and more specifically to the Catholic church.
If you are interested in the church I suggest you attend a mass on Sunday and afterwards ask the priest about the RCIA program.

"Catholic" just means "universal". Therefore, we are all catholic Christians, and some people are Roman Catholic Christians.

Is the Pope a man of God? I think anyone who has dedicated his life to his God and his Church is entitled to be called a Man of God, whether you agree with his ideas or not.

Fundamentalist Christians like to knock the Pope, with the unbecoming arrogance that they would be better off without.

According to original Christian Lore, the Pope is Christ's Vicar on earth, not just a man of god, but "God's Man" on Earth.. Now as far as whether or not to become a Catholic, I am not qualified to answer, I'm Atheist....

if you truly want to be catholic you should do research and learn what it is all about. That goes for any religion. And no offence to any catholics but base your decision on what you feel in your heart, not the man that the pope is. there has always been controversy with the popes; then again, there is controversy in everyone's lives and no one is perfect.
Like i said, dont base your decision on the pope and his actions, do it on what you belive because in the end, thats all religion is.

If you feel that you're comfortable with being a Catholic then be one.Theres no unreasonable rules in being a catholic, just BASIC moral values(you know?just be human)If you can follow & believe it then by all means be one but if you cant & rather be an atheist then be that instead.Religion is like a guide,so follow one that you're comfortable with.I suggest dont go for the ones that make you go all fanatic!
